Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Sightseeing tour of Nizhny Novgorod

    The meeting is held in parallel:

    • 11:00-11:25 in the central building of the railway station at the souvenir shop located to the left of the exit.
    • 11:15-11:25 on Lenin Square (near the Marins Park Hotel 4*), buses stop along the square opposite the monument (the bus number will be notified to you by the responsible manager)

    Check-in after the excursion program (early check-in is possible for an additional fee).

    11:30 Departure for the excursion program.

    A bus and walking sightseeing tour of the city awaits you.

    Short description:

    • 11:30-13:30 Bus tour (2 hours) with stops at the central attractions; 13:30-14:30 Walking tour of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin (1 hour);
    • 14:45 Lunch at a cafe in the city (1 hour);
    • 15:30 Walking tour of Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street (1 hour);
    • 16:30 Guided tour of the Rukavishnikov Manor Museum (1 hour);
    • Transfer to the hotel.
    • Check-in free time.

    During the trip, you will discover the main symbols of the city: the majestic Chkalovskaya Staircase, the monumental Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the monumental monument to Maxim Gorky, as well as the pearl of architecture of the XVII century — the ancient Stroganov (Christmas) Church.

    The route runs through the most picturesque corners of the city: you will walk along the atmospheric streets — Malaya Pokrovskaya, Rozhdestvenskaya and Ilyinskaya, enjoy the panoramas of the Verkhnevolzhskaya and Nizhnevolzhskaya embankments.

    Special attention will be paid to the iconic squares of the city — Minin and Pozharsky, Maxim Gorky.

    And the most impressive moments are waiting for you on the observation decks, which offer breathtaking views of the zarechnaya part of the city.

    Do not miss the opportunity to admire the panorama from the highest embankment of the Volga River, offering stunning views of the majestic Volga expanses!

    13:30 On a sightseeing tour, you will take a walk around the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, an ancient fortress built in the early 16th century.

    This is a very important defensive structure, which has never been captured by enemies in its history.

    The Kremlin houses the oldest cathedral in the city, Mikhailo-Archangelsky.

    It was built in the 17th century, and the famous Nizhny Novgorod resident Kozma Minin is buried there.

    If you look at the Kremlin from the Volga, it looks like a beautiful stone ornament that lies on the slopes of the Dyatlov Mountains.

    14:45 Lunch at a cafe in the city. Included in the price.

    Bolshaya Pokrovskaya is the main pedestrian street of Nizhny Novgorod.

    On the tour, you will learn interesting stories about ancient buildings and their owners, hear stories about famous Nizhny Novgorod merchants and patrons who built this area, get acquainted with the biographies of famous people who lived here, and learn how the main street of the city has changed over the centuries.

    Next, we invite you to the magnificent Rukavishnikov Estate, a luxurious 19th—century neo-Baroque merchant mansion, where you will get acquainted with the history of the famous Nizhny Novgorod dynasty of industrialists, see exquisite state halls with authentic furniture and interior items of that era, appreciate the unique architecture of the building and learn about the life and traditions of the rich merchant class of pre-revolutionary Russia.

    It was even better than I expected. I’m really glad I went and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

    The tour is quite intense for just three days, so the information ends up being rather superficial. It feels more like an introduction or a starting point for future trips. By the last day (in Kazan), fatigue sets in, and it becomes harder to take everything in. It might be worth extending the tour by an extra day. I really enjoyed the work of our guide, Dmitry (in Yoshkar-Ola, Cheboksary, and partly in Kazan). It’s clear that he’s genuinely passionate about history and knows his subject very well.

    A good sightseeing tour. Now I know exactly which places I’d like to return to and next time for a few days. I would have liked a bit more history, perhaps some local stories or ethnographic insights. The "look to the right / look to the left / this house belongs to so-and-so / souvenirs over there" format didn’t feel very informative to me. On the other hand, I completely understand how difficult it is to present material in such a large group. I really enjoyed the Rock Café for lunch in Nizhny Novgorod, but in Kazan the meal was rather plain and uninspiring. In Yoshkar-Ola everything was fine, but if they had included something from the local cuisine, it would have been perfect. On a tour like this, the taste of regional food makes a big difference.
