  Many wonderful people were born on the land of Kostroma. One of them, Fyodor Grigoryevich Volkov, is the founder of the first public theater in Russia. The decree on the foundation of the state theater was issued by Empress Elizabeth Petrovna. The first actor played an important role in the palace coup of another Empress Catherine II.
