The tour takes place in the Caucasus, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. It is here, at the foot of the Main Caucasian Ridge, that the mountainous country of Digoria stretches.

In Digoria, travelers are greeted at every turn by high mountains and emerald rivers. Comfortable mountain paths lead tourists to numerous waterfalls and the majestic glaciers of Tana and Karaugom. On a tour to Digoria, you can not only admire the beautiful nature, but also touch the secrets of the past. Our program includes jeeping to ancient villages, to ancient Ossetian castles and towers.

And during the campaign we will definitely try the famous Ossetian pies, which are famous for the cuisine of Ossetia.

A real glacier!

Let's go to the Karaug glacier. It is the largest glacier in Ossetia and the second largest glacier on the The Caucasus. Currently, its length is 12 km.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Uastyrdzhi Monument - Digor Gorge
11:00-11:30 Gathering of the group in Mineralnye Vody at the airport and at the railway station. 
Transfer to Digor gorge (about 4 hours).
The monument of Uastyrdzhi is the Digor Gorge.
Leaving the bustling city, we go to the picturesque gorges of North Ossetia. In the Alagir gorge we will make a stop near the monument to St. George. Here he is called Uastyrji – this is the main character of the local epic, the patron saint of men, warriors and travelers.
We are moving on, ahead of us is the main gate of the mountain Digoria - the Ahsinta Canyon. The bridge "Ahsinti Head" is laid across the canyon, in our opinion – the Devil's Bridge. Under the bridge, at a depth of 80 meters, the Urukh River runs among the rocks.
Digoria is just around the corner from here!
After arrival, we set up a tent camp. During the entire rest period, our camp will be located in one place.
The campsite is located at an altitude of 1740 m.

Day 2 - Hike to Mount Kubus. Taimasi Waterfalls
Each area has its own special, iconic mountain. In Digoria, such a mountain is Kubus.
Tourists who came here for the first time, climb the Cube with interest. And those who have repeatedly vacationed in Ossetia, each time consider it their duty to climb to this peak. Do you know why? Let's tell you a secret – this mountain fulfills wishes. Honestly, honestly!
Mount Kubus looks like a pyramid from afar, completely covered with forests. They come here singly and in large groups, they come up here in winter and summer. Sunrises are celebrated here and even the New Year is celebrated!
There is a huge, very unusual tree growing on the top of the mountain. It is this tree that is responsible for the wishes of tourists here. One of our favorite desires is to see the magnificent, panoramic views from the top of the mountain. And this wish always comes true!
On the way back, we go to the observation deck, from where we take photos and admire the complex of waterfalls. They are born on the Taymazi glacier and have the official name "Taymazinsky waterfalls". But, since there are three waterfalls, tourists call them in their own way - "Three Sisters".
Three sisters are running in the Kharez gorge and even from a distance they look very impressive. The most powerful and the most full-flowing is the middle "sister". Its white, foamy streams beckon you to come closer.

Day 3 - Trekking to the Karaugom glacier
One of the most favorite hiking trips on our tour is a walk to the Karaugom glacier. It is the largest glacier in Ossetia and the second largest glacier in the Caucasus. Currently, its length is 12 km.
On this day, we will have an amazing variety of routes: rocky mountain peaks, a furious river and the harsh beauty of a pine forest with a soft litter of mosses and lichens. The trail through the coniferous forest is comfortable, wide, and for a very long time it goes completely without climbing. A real tourist's dream!
Coming out of the forest, we will have a view of the Karaugom glacier and its surrounding peaks for the first time. Then the trail will lead up, along the way we will see very picturesque sand scree. By the end of the trekking, we will get closer to the glacier to admire it, take a photo and feel its icy breath.
The active part of the route: 13.8 km, altitude difference of 1550-2250 m, the duration of the hike is 7-8 hours.

Day 4 - Galdaridon Waterfall (Pearl Waterfall), Bayradi Waterfall
Good morning is when it's summer on the calendar, there are mountains outside the window and a walk through these very mountains is in the plans for today!
The mountain road meanders like a snake, drags it along and gradually gains altitude. The path leads past the blooming willow-tea and leads into a coniferous forest. Soon, the pine branches seem to move apart – and the noisy river Hares appears in front of us.
The closer we get to the waterfall, the more the gorge widens. Mountains rise in front of us, which we will admire for a whole week. So, we have already arrived at the waterfall, but have you forgotten your swimsuits? Yes, the waterfall is cold! But will that stop us?
The active part of the route: 12.1 km, elevation difference of 1740-2160 m, the duration of the hike is 6 hours.
Day 5 - Tanacete Glacier
Today our excursion to the mountains will be very diverse: alpine meadows, coniferous forests, harsh rocks and a real glacier.
The path will pass through the Tana clearing, along the Harecidon and Tanandon rivers. Almost all rivers in North Ossetia have the prefix "don" in their names, which means "water", "river". After passing through the clearing of Tana, the path will take us to the right, and immediately in the distance the goal of our hike will appear – the glacier of Tanacete sparkling in the sun. It is from him that the Tanandon River originates, along which it will go. And next to it is the kingdom of flowers: rhododendrons, lilies, Willow-tea, daisies and stunning orange poppies. Very spectacular photos are always taken in this place.
Two large glaciers, Mosota and Tanacete, descend into the Digora Gorge from the Laboda mountain range. The length of the Tana Glacier is about 4 kilometers. It's really huge!
At the foot of the glacier, we will stop for rest, have lunch and go back to the camp.
The active part of the route: 16.2 km, elevation difference of 1740-2330 m, the duration of the hike is 7 hours.
Day 6 - Excursion to the ancient villages of Digoria. The Frigate Tower, the fortress of the Sedanov brothers. Nana Zadaleski Museum and Nana Cave
Today there will be a jeep tour and a tour of North Ossetia in ancient villages. Let's look at the ancient towers and touch the history of these places. Ruins of towers and houses have been preserved in many villages of Digoria, but we will go with you to a very special castle "Frigate".
The masterpiece of the medieval architecture of Ossetia is the Mansau Castle or the Fregat Tower - it has been decorating the slopes of this sunny valley for many centuries. It is located at an altitude of 1,500 m and proudly towers over the surroundings like a huge ship, its nose pointing at the highest point of the rocky ridge of the Caucasus.
Then the very pleasant, walking part of our trekking begins. We will walk through the young, coniferous forest to the fortress of the Sedanov brothers. 
The fortress is built on a rocky peak, which drops off into a deep abyss on three sides, and on the fourth side is connected to the rocks by a very narrow bridge. The fortress has its own very interesting legend, which our instructor will tell you.
This ancient tower is beautiful in any weather: on a sunny day it looks very impressive against the background of a grandiose, rocky ridge. On a cloudy day, thick clouds swirl around it, the tower seems to float out of the fog, and the flag of Ossetia flies on its top.
The active part of the route: 9.2 km, altitude difference of 1560-1670 m, the duration of the hike is 5-6 hours.

Day 7 - Return to the city of Mineralnye Vody
In the morning we have breakfast, assemble a tent camp, and this is the end of the "Mountain Camp in Digoria" tour.
Transfer by minibus to Mineralnye Vody.
12:30-13:30 Arrival in Mineralnye Vody (airport, bus station, railway station), departure home.
Depending on the weather conditions, the physical condition of the participants and other factors, the route of the hike may be changed.

The route is trekking and provides for walking through mountainous (rugged) terrain.

This type of outdoor activity involves daily climbing and dropping heights (ascents and descents).
The route passes through forest trails, dirt roads, alpine meadows, large and small stones.

The routes will have an altitude difference of 300 to 600 m per day. For two days of the route, the altitude difference will be 100-200 m.
Climbing up 300-600 m is about like climbing 100-200 floors.

It's important to know

We draw your attention to the rules of choosing clothes for the trip: in the Caucasus, you can wear trousers and T-shirts. Shorts and T-shirts should not be taken for a trip to the Caucasus.

Passport / birth certificate of the child.
To obtain a pass to the border zone, you must have with you a black and white copy of the second page of the passport and the registration page. There is no place to make a copy in Digoria. It is impossible to issue a pass without a photocopy of the passport, as a result, the tourist will not be able to visit the Karaugom gorge.
Camera/video camera. In several gorges along the route that enter the border zone, it is forbidden to use a quadcopter for filming.

The trip to Baikal was a success! The organization of the tour was impeccable. Thanks to the manager in the Big Country Yulia Trubinova. All the planned trips were at a good level, the accommodation also corresponded to the promised, i.e. with all amenities. Many thanks to our instructor of the Voskhod tour club - Alexey Dusenko and all the participants of the tour. Thanks to them, the tour turned out to be very interesting, rich and diverse for me. Of course, Baikal must be seen firsthand, photos and videos will only remind you of these days, and will not convey all the beauty! It is also remarkable that we were very lucky with the weather. The sun was shining, the ice shone like crystal. I am very glad that I was lucky enough to see all this and meet such wonderful people!
