The tour takes place in the Caucasus, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. It is here, at the foot of the Main Caucasian Mountain Range, that the mountainous country of Digoria is located.

In Digoria, high mountains and emerald rivers greet us at every turn. Comfortable mountain paths lead to numerous waterfalls and the majestic glaciers of Tana and Karaugom. On the Digoria tour, we will not only admire the beautiful nature, but also touch the secrets of the past. Our program includes a trip to ancient villages, ancient Ossetian castles and towers.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival. Uastyrdzhi Monument — Digor Gorge
11:30-12:00 Gathering of the group in the city of Mineralnye Vody at the airport and at the railway station.
Transfer to Digor gorge (about 4 hours).
In the Alagir gorge we will make a stop near the monument to St. George.
Here he is called Uastyrdzhi — this is the main character of the local epic, the patron saint of men, warriors and travelers.
We are moving on, ahead of us is the main gate of the mountain Digoria — the Ahsinta Canyon.
The bridge "Ahsinti Head" is laid across the canyon, in our opinion - the Devil's Bridge.
After arrival, we set up a tent camp.
During the entire rest period, our camp will be located in one place.
The campsite is located at an altitude of 1740 m. Active part of the hike: 2 km on foot.

Day 2 - Hike to Mount Kubus. Taimasi Waterfalls
Each area has its own special, iconic mountain.
In Digoria, such a mountain is Mount Kubus.
Tourists who came here for the first time, climb the Cube with interest.
And those who have repeatedly vacationed in Ossetia, each time consider it their duty to climb to this peak.
Let's tell you a secret — this mountain grants wishes.
Kubus Mountain looks like a pyramid from afar, completely covered with forests.
There is a huge, very unusual tree growing on the top of the mountain — it is this tree that is responsible for the desires of tourists here.
On the way back, we go to the observation deck, from where we take photos and admire the complex of waterfalls.
They are born on the Taymazi glacier and have the official name "Taymazinsky waterfalls".

Day 3 - Trekking to the Karaugom glacier
One of the most favorite hiking trips on our tour is a walk to the Karaug glacier.
It is the largest glacier in Ossetia and the second largest glacier in the Caucasus.
Currently, its length is 12 km.
On this day, we will have an amazing variety of routes: rocky mountain peaks, a raging river and the harsh beauty of a pine forest with a soft litter of mosses and lichens.
The trail through the coniferous forest is comfortable and wide, and it goes for a very long time without climbing at all.
After leaving the forest, we will have a view of the Karaugom glacier and its surrounding peaks for the first time.
Then the trail will lead up, along the way we will see very picturesque sandy scree.
By the end of the trekking, we'll get closer to the glacier to admire it, take photos and feel its icy breath.
The active part of the route: 13.8 km, elevation difference 1550-2250 m, duration of the hike 7-8 hours.

Day 4 - Galdaridon Waterfall (Pearl Waterfall), Bayradi Waterfall
Good morning is when summer is on the calendar, there are mountains outside the window and a walk through these very mountains is on the agenda for today!
The mountain road meanders like a snake, dragging you along and gradually gaining altitude.
The path leads past a blooming willow tea and leads into a coniferous forest.
Soon, the pine branches seem to part, and the noisy Khares River appears in front of us.
The closer we get to the waterfall, the more the gorge widens.
Mountains rise in front of us, which we will admire for a whole week.
So, we've already arrived at the waterfall, but have you forgotten your swimsuits? Yes, the waterfall is cold! But will that stop us?
There is a place from where you can take very spectacular pictures of falling water.
And at the same time get a cool shower from the smallest drops that are carried by gusts of wind.
The active part of the route: 14.1 km, elevation difference 1740-2160 m, the duration of the hike is 6 hours.
Day 5 - Tanacete Glacier
Today our excursion to the mountains will be very diverse: alpine meadows, coniferous forests, harsh rocks and a real glacier.
The path will pass through the Tana clearing, along the Haresydon and Tanandon rivers.
After passing through Tana's clearing, the path will take us to the right, and immediately in the distance we will see the purpose of our hike — the Tanatsete glacier sparkling in the sun.
It is from him that the Tanandon River originates, along which it will go.
And nearby there is a kingdom of flowers: rhododendrons, lilies, Willow tea, daisies and stunning orange poppies.
\This place always makes for very spectacular photos.
Two large glaciers, Mosota and Tanatsete, descend into the Digor Gorge from the Laboda mountain range.
At the foot of the glacier, we will stop for a rest, have lunch and set off on our way back to the camp.
The active part of the route: 16.2 km, elevation difference 1740-2330 m, the duration of the hike is 7 hours.
Day 6 - Digoria Ancient Villages Tour
Today there will be a car tour and a tour of North Ossetia in ancient villages.
Let's look at the ancient towers and touch the history of these places.
Ruins of towers and houses have been preserved in many villages of Digoria, but we will go with you to a very special castle "Frigate".
The masterpiece of medieval architecture of Ossetia, the Mansau Castle or the Frigate Tower, has been adorning the slopes of this sunny valley for many centuries.
It is located at an altitude of 1,500 m and stands proudly above the surroundings like a huge ship, with its nose aimed at the highest point of the rocky Caucasus range.
Then the pleasant, hiking part of our trekking begins.
We will walk through the young coniferous forest to the fortress of the Sedanov brothers.
The fortress has its own very interesting legend, which our instructor will tell you.
This ancient tower is beautiful in any weather: on a sunny day, it looks very impressive against the backdrop of a grandiose, rocky ridge.

The active part of the route: 12.2 km, elevation difference 1560-1670 m, duration of the hike 5-6 hours.

Day 7 - Departure
We have breakfast in the morning and set up a tent camp.
Transfer by minibus to Mineralnye Vody.
12:30-13:30 Arrival in Mineralnye Vody (airport, bus station, railway station), departure home.

The difficulty level of the route: moderate (25% of the route), medium (75% of the route). The route is trekking and involves walking through mountainous (rough) terrain.

This type of outdoor activity involves daily climbing and dropping heights (ascents and descents). The route passes through forest trails, dirt roads, alpine meadows, large and small stones. The routes will have an altitude difference of 300 to 600 m per day. For two days of the route, the altitude difference will be 100-200 m. Going up 300-600 m is about the same as going up 100-200 floors.

The route runs at an altitude of 1740-2400 m.

Please note the rules for choosing clothes for a trip: in the Caucasus, you can wear trousers and T-shirts.

You should not take shorts and T-shirts for a trip to the Caucasus.
