Two cities with an ancient history, so similar and so different.

Veliky Novgorod will be remembered for its ancient architecture and fascinating views. You will explore the well–groomed territory of the Kremlin and visit St. Sophia Cathedral, the oldest surviving church in Russia. Take a walk around Yaroslav's Courtyard, appreciate the unusual Hanseatic Fountain and immerse yourself in the shopping traditions of the city.

And then, in one day, you will get acquainted with Pskov, visit the Pskov-Pechersk Monastery and walk through the ancient Izborsk fortress. You will explore the towers of the Pskov Kremlin, snow-white churches and colorful monuments, admire Gorodishchenskiy Lake and climb to the observation decks with incredible views.

Arrivals on Fridays in the period from 01.10.24 to 30.04.25. On request, arrivals are possible from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Veliky Novgorod. City sightseeing tour
6:24-10:26 Arrival in Veliky Novgorod.
Meeting with the guide at the main entrance to the railway station from the platform.
Check the meeting details the day before.
Transfer to the hotel.
Accommodation (in the morning, if possible at the hotel, check-out time is 14:00).
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
For tourists staying in other hotels and arriving after 10:00, breakfast is replaced with dinner at the hotel).
11:00 2-hour walking tour of the old town: Sofia and the Trade side.
Detinets – "the stone chronicle of Novgorod".
The Kremlin – walls and 9 preserved towers: St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod is the oldest church in Russia. "Where Sofia is, Novgorod is here", a monument to the 1000th anniversary of Russia.

Day 2 - Continue exploring the city. Moving to Pskov

11:00 a.m. 2-hour car tour of the surrounding area. “To the stars of the blue domes.” A visit to the current, largest of the Novgorod monasteries – the Victorious George, traditionally called Yuriev, St. George's Cathedral in 1119. The wonderful village of Vitoslavlitsy is an architectural and natural reserve of wooden architecture.
Organization of lunch in a cafe in the city – an additional fee of 700 rubles / person. Booking in advance.
15:00 Free time in the city center. Optional visits to additional excursions.
16:30 Transfer to the train station.
17:50 Departure to Pskov by Lastochka train (railway ticket is included in the tour price).
21:50 Arrival in Pskov. Meeting with the guide at the railway station.

More than 1,500 years of history of the city of Pskov, which in the XVI century, along with London and Paris, Moscow and Novgorod, was one of the five largest European cities.
One of the most powerful fortresses in Europe and Russia, consisting of 5 belts of stone walls with 39 battle towers, secrets and traps. The Pskov Kremlin is an open-air museum, which includes Dovmont city - "Pskov Pompeii", Veche Square - a symbol of freedom and the first experience of democratic government in our country, Trinity Cathedral — one of the first Christian churches in Russia, "Kromsky Cape" - the place where the winding Pskov River flows into the deep Velikaya River and the first the Pskov settlement. The historical and architectural center of the city, monuments of civil architecture of the 17th century, the history of buildings and the life stories of their owners, legends of the city and outstanding real events, for example, the "Ice Battle" of 1242.
11.30 Excursion "Izborsk wonderful and Krylata fortress"
Arrival in Izborsk. Sightseeing of the fortress, a walk to the holy springs "Slovenian keys".

Transfer to the men's active Holy Dormition Pskov-Pechersk Monastery, acquaintance with shrines and sights.

The tombs of the ancestors of V.N.Tatishchev, M.I.Kutuzov, M.P.Mussorgsky, A.S.Pushkin have been preserved in the monastery caves. A historical and architectural ensemble of 11 temples of the XV - XX centuries, outbuildings and a large belfry with a preserved set of ancient bells. The fortress of the XVI century. with 9 fortress towers and a full complex of wall fences.
Departure to Pskov.
19:30 Departure of train No. 10 from Pskov to Moscow.
