The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Varlaamo-Khutynsky Convent is an architectural ensemble of the XVI-XIX centuries. It attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The life of the monastery is closely connected with the name of its founder, Varlaam Khutynsky.
The Transfiguration Cathedral houses the relics of St. Barlaam, and the ashes of the great Russian poet and statesman Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin rest here. There is also a holy hill, a chapel and a well with holy water on the territory of the monastery.
