New Year in Vladivostok with a visit to the "Land of the Leopard"

Winters in Vladivostok are very sunny, snow falls only three times a winter! But the cold winds are blowing from the sea. The average air temperature is minus 10-20 °C. Dress according to the weather.

The Land of the Leopard National Park is famous all over the world for its truly unique nature. 

Located at the junction of the borders of the three states, this territory has the largest variety of animal and plant species in Northeast Asia. The "Land of the Leopard" includes reference areas of the South Ussuri taiga that have preserved relict forests. 

This place is rightfully called the "most feline" natural territory of Russia. After all, only here there are four types of wild cats at once – the Far Eastern leopard, the Amur tiger, the lynx and the Far Eastern forest cat. 

The Land of the Leopard National Park was established in Primorsky Krai in 2012 with the main goal of preserving and restoring the population of the rarest cat in the world. 

At the end of the twentieth century, only 30-35 individuals of the Far Eastern leopard remained in the world. The National Park is a maternity hospital for leopards in Primorye. As they grow up, leopards disperse to outlandish territories. 

Now the population is increasing, although many scientists did not believe in the possibility of its revival. According to the latest data, the population of the Far Eastern leopard has 128 adults in the region. 

The city of Vladivostok is located on the Muravyov-Amur Peninsula and is washed by the waters of the Sea of Japan! 

During the sightseeing tour, you will visit the best embankments – Korabelnaya, from where the city began, where there is a monument to pioneers, a memorial to soldiers who died in World War II, with an Eternal Flame and a chapel. 

The Headquarters of the Pacific Fleet is located on the Ship Embankment, Russian and very often foreign warships are on the raid. Here, on the raid, the memorial ship "Red Pennant", it was from him that the legendary Pacific Fleet of Russia began.

Then the path lies along the main street of Vladivostok - Svetlanskaya, with ancient mansions and leads to the railway and sea stations. Vladivostok is the only city in Russia where these two stations stand side by side. It is in Vladivostok that the Great Trans-Siberian Railway ends, and upon arriving at the final station by rail, you can immediately transfer to a motor ship and go on a long journey by sea to Japan or South Korea. 

The building of the railway station in Vladivostok is very similar to the building of the Yaroslavl railway station in Moscow. Thus, Russian railway builders sealed the way from the capital to the shores of the Pacific Ocean with two stations. 

The length of the route is more than 9,000 km, the branded train "Russia" goes from Moscow to Vladivostok – 7 days! There is a sign on the platform here, signifying the end of the longest railway in the world. 

The marine station stands on the shore of the Golden Horn Bay. It is to him that the cruise ocean liners "Princesses" are moored, bringing thousands of tourists from all over the world.

There is also a laboratory for growing shellfish feed, a "maternity hospital" for juveniles and large baths with running water for storing shellfish before shipping to restaurants all over Russia. The Primorsky Aquarium is one of the largest oceanariums in the world. 

The total area of the interior space is almost five football fields, the shape of the building resembles an open clam shell. 

In the left wing of the aquarium there is a reservoir with a 70-meter underwater tunnel. In the right wing there is a dolphinarium with an arena pool and bleachers that can accommodate 800 spectators. 

The water show takes place at 11 and 15 o'clock. 

Among the inhabitants of the Primorsky Aquarium are representatives of all oceans and climatic zones of the Earth. Including the inhabitants of the Sea of Japan, the Arctic, Lake Baikal, the Amur River and others.

Vladivostok International Airport became the winner of the National award "Air Gates of Russia" in the nomination "The best airport in the category from 2 to 6 million passengers per year" by the end of 2023.

The tour is not recommended for children under 6 years old, as the New Year's banquet takes place in a cafe remote from the hotel (7 minutes by car), there is no way to track a sleeping child.

The route through the winter taiga is not long for 2-3 hours. We recommend winter sportswear and shoes with a grooved sole (non-slip). Difficulties: frost and wind, slippery, climbing on the ground to the level of about 3-4 floors of the house.
