Day 1 - Visit to the Christmas tree decorations workshop "Christmas Apple" with a master class. New Year's Eve

08:30 Departure from Moskovskaya metro station, Demonstration passage.
Transfer to Veliky Novgorod via the M11 expressway.
Visit to the Christmas tree decorations workshop "Christmas Apple". The Christmas Apple workshop creates unique handmade Christmas decorations. Glassblowers, designers and artists work here.
During the tour of the workshop, you will find out what the first Christmas tree toys were like, see how a glass ball is born in the glassblowing workshop, and in the art painting workshop you will see how the glass shape comes to life under the artist's brush and turns into an amazing Christmas tree toy.

City tour. Staraya Russa is a small ancient town in the Novgorod region, where the merchant heritage, century–old temples and places associated with F. M. Dostoevsky have been preserved.
During the reign of Peter I, salt production began to develop here, and under Catherine II, a new state-owned salt factory was built, which operated until the 19th century.
Staraya Russa is famous for its mineral springs, thanks to which, in the 19th century, a therapeutic balneo-mud resort was created here, which became a popular vacation destination for intellectuals from St. Petersburg and Moscow.

An excursion to the F. M. Dostoevsky Museum. Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky is a famous resort resident of Staraya Russa, who, after several summer vacations in the city, bought a cottage here.
Dostoevsky worked a lot in Staraya Russa. "The Teenager", "Demons", “Pushkin's Speech”, as well as a significant part of the last novel "The Brothers Karamazov" were written here.

I'm so glad I chose the 'Across the Expanses of Perm the Great' tour in July 2024. It was a high-quality, engaging, and thoughtfully designed journey through the entire Perm region. The trip was full of fascinating discoveries: ancient monasteries, unique museums, the distinctive Permian animal style and wooden deities, the history of salt production and the Stroganovs in the Urals, and much more. The natural beauty of Parma was breathtaking: dense forests, countless rivers, mountains, and even an ice cave. The hotels were comfortable, and the breakfasts and lunches were tasty, often featuring elements of local cuisine. Traveling in a small group made the experience even more enjoyable, after all, it's usually seasoned travelers who venture to the Perm region. One special moment was when we all got to bake and taste traditional gingerbread made from an old recipe, for many of us, it was a first.
