Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Talaba Islands tour. Spaso-Eleazar Monastery Tour

07:00 Departure from Ligovsky Prospekt, 10 (Oktyabrskaya Hotel).

07:30 Departure from Moskovskaya metro station, Demonstration passage.

Transfer to the Talaba Islands pier. A guided tour on the way.

Departure by comfortable boats to the Talaba Islands. The Talaba Islands are located in the southeastern part of Lake Pskov. The archipelago consists of three islands: Zalita Island, Belova Island and Talabenets Island. The latter is uninhabited, and there is no landing on it, but you can admire it by passing by on a boat.

Boat trip to Zalita island (Talabsk).

Lunch at the restaurant "Ruff" on the island of Zalita (extra charge).

Holy Island tour. The protected areas of the Talab archipelago have always been a haven for secular and religious hermits who sought and found enlightenment and peace of mind here.

There is a church in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on the island of Zalita. St. Nicholas Church is the main dominant of the island. To this day, the sound of the bell serves as a "musical" beacon for fishermen lost in the fog. Father Nikolai Guryanov served as rector here for more than 40 years. He had a special spiritual vision, saw through people, and spiritually helped everyone who came to him for help and support.

We will have the opportunity to visit the temple, as well as the grave of Nikolai Guryanov.

There was once a Royal Garden on the island. The first trees in the garden appeared in the early 19th century during the reign of Alexander I, and local fishermen sent fish to the royal table. Part of the garden was miraculously preserved and is now visible at the entrance to the island from St. Nicholas Church.

Ferry to Belova Island (Verkhny). A true paradise of wildlife, because there is a wide variety of birds on the island, including Red-listed songbirds and gray herons. A pine grove has been preserved on the island, the pride of the locals. Everything here seems to be disconnected from reality, from the hustle and bustle of life.

Attention! Walking tours are provided on the islands. The route length is 3 km.

Outdoor recreation, those who wish can swim.

    Return to the pier.

    Transfer to Elizarovo.

Guided tour of the Spaso-Eleazar Monastery. You will see a beautifully restored 15th century complex. This is the former center of Pskov icon painting and the place where Elder Philotheus formulated the main political doctrine of Moscow Rus' "Moscow is the Third Rome."

Here you will hear stories about the great figures of the Russian Orthodox Church and enjoy the silence of the monastery gardens.

    Departure to Pskov.

    Accommodation at the hotel.

    Free time.

I'm so glad I chose the 'Across the Expanses of Perm the Great' tour in July 2024. It was a high-quality, engaging, and thoughtfully designed journey through the entire Perm region. The trip was full of fascinating discoveries: ancient monasteries, unique museums, the distinctive Permian animal style and wooden deities, the history of salt production and the Stroganovs in the Urals, and much more. The natural beauty of Parma was breathtaking: dense forests, countless rivers, mountains, and even an ice cave. The hotels were comfortable, and the breakfasts and lunches were tasty, often featuring elements of local cuisine. Traveling in a small group made the experience even more enjoyable, after all, it's usually seasoned travelers who venture to the Perm region. One special moment was when we all got to bake and taste traditional gingerbread made from an old recipe, for many of us, it was a first. Huge thanks to our amazing guide, Andrey, and to Venaris, our incredibly skilled driver!
