Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Gdov — Samolva — Elizarovo — Pskov

07:15 Departure of the bus from St. Petersburg from Moskovskaya metro station, Demonstration passage.

Guided tour of the highway. Arrival in Gdov.

    11:30-13:00 City sightseeing tour.

An inspection of the ruins of the Gdov fortress with a visit to the St. Dmitrievsky Cathedral. Pskov land is rich in fortresses. Gdov fortress is located near Lake Peipsi, it has always been one of the first to receive the blows of the knight regiments.

Now only small sections of masonry remain from the former greatness, which show how they were built in those days. Today you will no longer see the high and powerful fortress walls. Alas, time did not spare them.

Optional lunch at a cafe for an additional fee.

Transfer to the village of Samolva. Visit to the museum "Ice battle. Prayer". The Museum staff will acquaint visitors with the history of the expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences to clarify the site of the Ice Battle, tell about the legendary battle of 1242 on the shores of Lake Peipsi!

Tour of the memorial complex "Alexander Nevsky with his squad". This is a 15-meter sculpture on a six—meter mound, including nine figures of warriors (three mounted and six on foot), under whose feet are the armor of a defeated enemy.

Transfer to the village of Elizarovo.

Visit to the Spaso-Eleazar Monastery. The Spaso-Eleazar Monastery in the village of Elizarovo is one of the main shrines of the Pskov land.

Founded by St. Euphrosyne, a small monastery surrounded by impenetrable forests, the Spaso-Eleazar Monastery has attracted attention throughout the ages, because ascetic monks, learned monks, and spiritual elders lived here.

The monastery was a place of heroic deeds of the monastics and the salvation of the laity. The monastic service unknown to the world, the prayerful work of famous and obscure ascetics was not forgotten.

Monastic life in Yelizarov was restored, and in 2000 the ancient Spaso-Eleazar Monastery began to be revived as a women's monastery. Now, after its abolition and ruin, it regains its former significance.

At about 19:30 arrival in Pskov. At the confluence of the Velikaya and Pskov rivers stands a high cliff, on which the Kremlin was built at the beginning of the 10th century.

The most terrible threats of that time — fires, enemy invasions and epidemics could not stop the development of the city, and this despite the fact that in less than 600 years, from 1116 to 1709. Pskov participated in 123 wars!

Pskov land was invariably the first to receive blows from the West.

A small evening bus sightseeing tour of the city. Accommodation at the hotel. Free time.
