The Putorana Plateau is a region lost in the heart of Siberia with wild nature and unique landscapes: flat—topped mountains, deep canyons, fjord lakes and hundreds of raging waterfalls. We invite you to see all this with your own eyes on a helicopter tour to the Putorana Plateau!

This is an autonomous expedition through real wild places on the Plateau, where we will be left alone with nature. Transportation to this area is possible only by air, here we will not find comfort, guest houses and well-found trails. Only the silence of the lakes, the loud roar of waterfalls, the silence of the mountains, the overflow of river water and the harsh northern beauty.

The route captures two key points: the Kitobo-Oron Waterfall and Lake Kutaramakan. We will travel between them on foot and by catamaran, making radial exits in the surrounding area. We will visit the most beautiful places of the plateau and all this is light without backpacks!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Helicopter flight from Norilsk to the Irkingda River and the Kitobo-Oron Waterfall
The expedition begins in Norilsk.
Before 08:30, the participants of the hike must arrive in the city on their own.
10:00 On the transfer we leave for the helipad. An aerial drop is waiting for us on the Putorana Plateau in the area of the Irkindinsky waterfall. The two—hour flight over the Putoranian expanses is a separate excursion. Let's look from a height at the unique relief — flat mountains, canyons with river strands, fjord lakes.
We land on the Irkingda River 2.5 km below the Kitobo-Oron waterfall. We set up camp and rest a bit.
After lunch, we will walk to the Great Irkindinsky waterfall — 5 km. We walk along a picturesque canyon with steep walls along the turquoise waters of the river. The second name of this powerful 27-meter waterfall is Kitobo-Oron. This is the calling card of the plateau. Let's admire the powerful streams, listen to the special hum and feel the energy of the falling water.
We return to the camp. We cook dinner, fish, spend the evening around the campfire.
Day 2 - Radial access to waterfalls
Today we are waiting for several trekking trips to the waterfalls in the vicinity of the camp.
First, we'll take a walk through two unnamed waterfalls falling from the mountainside. 2 km in one direction.
After that we move to the Small waterfall Kitobo-Oron. Trekking 2.5 km in one direction, we will stop for a snack on the way.
After returning to the camp, we fish, cook dinner and relax.
Day 3 - Waterfalls of Mount Bogadil
After breakfast, we go to the radial exit to the waterfalls of Mount Bogadil — 3 km in one direction.
Crossing the Irkingda River on catamarans. Then we go to the waterfalls along the soft moss through a small sparse forest, along the way there are beautiful views.
If desired, the group will climb to the plateau on the massif of Mount Bogadil — 8 km in one direction. The ascent is quite difficult — along the kurumnik and scree.
We cook dinner at the camp and relax after a busy day.
Day 4 - The day
Today we will relax, walk around the camp and admire the scenery.
We will definitely flood the outdoor sauna, warm up and recuperate before rafting.
Day 5 - Rafting on the Irkinda River to Lake Kutaramakan
We have breakfast and assemble the camp. Today we are waiting for an active catamaran rafting on the Irkinda River to Lake Kutaramakan — 13 km.
The Irkinda flows through a canyon among beautiful high cliffs, the water is clear and transparent. Unlike other rivers on the Putorana Plateau, this section of the Irkinda is quite easy for rafting, even with high water.
We go out to the narrow lake Kutaramakan. This is one of the most spectacular lakes on the Plateau – fjord-shaped, surrounded on all sides by mountains that drop right into the water. It has an elongated shape, its length is 60 km, and its width is only about 2 km.
We set up camp on a sandbar. We will relax with a magnificent view of the lake and the impressive size of Mount Chayakit.
Day 6 - Climbing the Bear Mountain
Today we are waiting for a simple radial exit — an ascent to the plateau. We will walk 16 km in total.
This is a unique opportunity to quickly climb to the upper level of the Putorana Plateau in just one day. We will climb Mount Medvezhya, from the top of which we will see Lake Kutaramakan and the neighboring Keta, as well as the valley of the Irkinda River, along which we rafted yesterday.
Day 7 - Boat trip
Today we will explore the western part of the lake on catamarans, we will walk 24 km through the water.
We go to the rocky slopes of the Bogadil mountains.
Many streams flow down their rugged surface, forming beautiful threadlike waterfalls. We admire the greatness of nature from the water and take amazing photos.
Day 8 - Climbing the pass to Keta Lake
Today we are going to the pass to Keta Lake. We are waiting for a light ascent, only 20 km.
From the pass we will look at the already familiar lakes and descend into the canyon of the Orokan River. There we will also reach two mountain waterfalls. Their character varies depending on the water level — waterfalls can appear as stormy, noisy streams or expose the riverbed, opening peculiar baths.
Day 9 - Departure to Norilsk
We're packing up and breaking camp.
We fly back to Norilsk by helicopter. Along the way, we look at the Putorana Plateau from a height.
I can't believe that just a few hours ago we were part of this faraway lost land.
The program can be simplified or complicated on request. It all depends on the activity of the participants and their physical fitness.
