Attention! In the area of fumarole fields, precautions must be taken (there is a risk of falling into hot mud, in the area of mineral springs — to get chemical burns). You can swim only in springs with a certain water temperature. The temperature in the springs in winter does not exceed +30°C.

Recommendations:

• Dress warmly, you need to have a hat, gloves, windproof waterproof clothes, bathing accessories and a towel for bathing in the springs.
• Residents of the Iturup hotel can take a towel for bathing at the springs at the reception for free. You cannot use a towel from the room at the springs.

11:30 Kasatka Bay. 

The bay has been known since the Second World War, it was from it that the squadron went to Pearl Harbor, which dealt a devastating blow to the American military base. 

The events that took place in January 1960, when a military barge with military personnel on board was torn from its mooring during a severe storm, also added fame to the bay. 

The soldiers spent 49 days in the open winter sea. They were rescued in March of the same year by an American aircraft carrier. The story was included in literature textbooks as an example of courage and perseverance in the fight against the forces of the elements.

You will be able to take amazing photos on the ocean shore against the background of a stranded ship.

At one time, the Japanese punched tunnels in it for through passage for military purposes, which have survived to the present day. 

You will walk (somewhere you will crawl) through the places of hostilities, you will see the site of the former "hospital", the so-called laboratory where the Japanese worked on the development of bacteriological weapons.
