Kolyvan traces its history back to the Chaussky prison, which was founded in 1713 to defend the southern borders of the Russian state in Western Siberia from the raids of the Kyrgyz. 

A settlement soon appeared around the prison, the population of which grew due to the peasants who came from the Ishim River. 

In 1822, Kolyvan became a district city, established from the Chaussky prison. 

Once upon a time, the Moscow Highway passed through the city, along which many Russian and foreign scientists, writers, and statesmen passed in the XVIII-XIX centuries. 

Wooden and stone merchant mansions, houses of artisans and peasants, decorated with openwork carvings, still stand in Kolyvan. 

More than thirty architectural monuments and more than a hundred objects of valuable historical environment have been preserved here, which create the atmosphere of an ancient merchant city.

The museum is located in the "House of merchant E.A. Zhernakov", which is an architectural monument of regional significance. 

Today, the museum's halls feature expositions "The place of Kolyvan in the history of the Russian state", "Merchants of the city of Kolyvan", "The life of peasants of the XIX-XX centuries." and other exhibitions. 

The Kolyvan Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Novosibirsk region.

The museum is located in the historical quarter, where restored merchant mansions, a monument to Nicholas the Wonderworker, and a fragment of Moskovskaya Street, representing the wooden architecture of Kolyvan, are presented.

Transfer to Yurt-Ora.

Visit to the ethnographic complex “Chatsky Tatar Manor".

The village of Yurt-Ora is located in the place of residence of the Siberian Tatars and represents the only combination of historical, ethnographic and archaeological cultural heritage in the Novosibirsk region. 

The museum consists of rooms built at the beginning of the twentieth century: a hut where the national historical life and lifestyle of a Tatar family are recreated, stands with unique archival materials about the clans of the village from the 16th century, traditional national clothes, shoes and other rarities, as well as a Tatar courtyard (extra charge).

Sightseeing tour of Tomsk.

The city was founded in the 17th century and became an important strategic military center that ensured the safety of the local population. The city is located in the east of Western Siberia on the banks of the Tom River. 

When the Siberian Highway was created, passing through Tomsk to Transbaikalia, the city became a center of transit trade. 

In the 19th century, the city became the center of the Tomsk Province, which included the territories of the present Kemerovo, Novosibirsk regions, the Altai Republic, the Altai Territory, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia. 

Today Tomsk is a major educational, scientific and innovative center of Siberia. The city is rich in monuments of wooden and stone architecture of the XVIII—XX centuries.

Excursion to the Tomsk History Museum.

The museum is located on the southern cape of the Voskresenskaya Mountain, where the Tomsk Fortress was built in 1604 and the history of the city began. 

The museum occupies a building that was built in 1859 specifically for the Police Department, and a fire tower was located on the roof of the building in the 19th century. The funds contain more than 4,000 items of storage. 

Due to the richness and variety of museum funds, permanent historical and local history expositions were organized.

Guided tour of wooden architecture in the Elan and Tatarskaya Sloboda districts.

This is a unique historical district of Tomsk, formed at the beginning of the 17th century. This place is known even before the foundation of the city. 

Here, at the old mouth of the Ushayka River, a Russian military winter quarters was once built, which became the forerunner of the Tomsk fortress on Voskresenskaya Mountain. 

Until the 17th century, the surroundings of modern Tomsk were inhabited by the so-called Tomsk Tatars, who lived on Yurt Mountain, where they set up their yurts, but with the arrival of the serving Russian people, they were shifted to the right bank of the Tom River, where there were water meadows, which were summer pastures. 

The Tomsk Tatars are a separate group of the population, which included such peoples as the Eushta, Kalmyks and Chats. This area grew and became a separate world, not inferior in terms of landscaping to other districts of Tomsk. 

Merchants and artisans who arrived from Kazan, Tobolsk provinces, Central Asia or other places settled in Tatarskaya Sloboda. By the end of the 19th century, the Tatar settlement of Tomsk had become one of the centers of Tatar culture in Siberia. 

Today, the wooden buildings have been preserved here and many buildings are a real work of art.

Tomskaya Pisanitsa Nature Reserve tour.

This is a unique archaeological site that preserves the history of people who lived in Western Siberia several thousand years ago. 

It was founded on the basis of a group of rocks in the lower Tom region dotted with rock carvings of ancient people. In total, about 280 drawings have been preserved. 

They are chronicles of the daily life of primitive man, his dreams, fears, and even reflections on eternity. 

Tomsk Pisanitsa includes three main exhibition complexes dedicated to archeology, ethnography and natural sciences. 

Each of them, in turn, is represented by several independent expositions and museum complexes connected with each other and with the natural landscape in one storyline. 

The latter is based on the idea of showing the ways of human existence in a given geographical environment from ancient times to the recent past.

Transfer to Kemerovo.

A walk around the city.

The city is located in the south of Western Siberia, on both banks of the Tom and Iskitimka rivers, in the northern part of the Kuznetsk coal basin (Kuzbass). In 1721, the Kuznetsk miner Mikhailo Volkov discovered the "burnt mountain" (burning coal seam) on the banks of the Tom River, thereby becoming the discoverer of Kuznetsk coals. It was here that the first mines were laid. 

In 1921, coal mining began to rise in Kuzbass. With the development of industrial construction, the city begins to grow. Currently Kemerovo is the largest industrial center located in the east of Russia. Coal, chemical and light industry enterprises operate here.

Excursion to the Krasnaya Gorka Museum.

The Krasnaya Gorka Museum-Reserve was established on the territory of the former Kemerovo coal mine in order to preserve unique monuments of mining heritage. 

The museum is located in a stone house, which was built by the Joint-Stock Company “Kuznetsk Coal mines” for the mine manager. 

This organization developed the deposit in the 1910s. 

It was Kopikuz that built the first large working settlements and mines on the banks of the Tom River, as well as the first coke plant in Siberia. 

The buildings of Kopikusa are the oldest architectural monuments of the city. 

The main exhibitions of the museum reflect the history of the Kemerovo mine and the city of Kemerovo, as well as coal mining in Kuzbass.

The factory was founded in 1816. It is located in the city of Guryevsk, Kemerovo region. Initially, it produced silver and copper, and since 1848 the company began to produce damask steel. 

To date, the plant's production volume is 210 thousand tons of steel per year. Guryevsky Metallurgical Plant is the oldest metallurgical enterprise in the Kemerovo region.

Transfer to the city of Tashtagol.

The city is located on the Kondoma River, 160 kilometers from Novokuznetsk. In the Turkic language, “tash” means a stone, “gol” means a ravine. 

"Tashtagol" is a stone log, and this name was given to the new mining settlement in 1939. The city is located on the territory of Gornaya Shoriya. 

This taiga region is located at the junction of Altai, Kuznetsk Alatau and Sayan. Gornaya Shoriya got its name from the small, distinctive people of the Shors, whose ancestors were famous throughout Siberia for their ability to smelt iron. 

It was their first Russian explorers who called the "Kuznetsk Tatars."

The official decision to establish the museum was made by the Tashtagol City Party Committee only in December 1987, and the museum opened in 1995. 

The collected exhibits served as the basis for the creation of Russia's first museum exhibition entirely dedicated to the material and spiritual culture of the Shors. The Shors are a small indigenous people of Western Siberia.

Transfer to Sheregesh.

The village got its name in honor of the Sheregeshev brothers, who discovered an iron ore deposit in 1912. 

The ski complex was opened here in 1981 for the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the RSFSR, and since the early 2000s Sheregesh has been known as a ski resort.

Cable car ascent to Zelenaya Mountain.

The official name of the mountain is Karitshal, which means "edge of the ridge” in the Shor language.

The second name of the "Green" mountain was due to its color. 

In summer, when there are only gray kurums of Mustag and Kurgan around, many shrubs and grasses grow on Karitshala, which gives it a bright green color. 

From the top of the Green there are wonderful views of Mustag, Kurgan with a Cross of Worship and the village of Sheregesh. The height of the mountain is 1270 meters.

In 1618, the Kuznetsk prison was founded, built by a detachment of Tomsk, Tyumen and Verkhoturye military men under the leadership of the son of the boyar Ostafiy Kharlamov-Mikhalevsky, near the confluence of the Kondoma River with the Tom River. 

The prison received its name from the local people, whom the Russians called the "Kuznetsk Tatars" for their ability to smelt iron and make various products from it. The settlement grew, and in 1689 Kuznetsk was granted the status of a city, and its industrial history began in 1745, when M. V. Lomonosov first recorded the presence of coal near Kuznetsk in the Catalog of Collections of the Mineral Cabinet of the Kunstkamera of the Academy of Sciences. 

Novokuznetsk is one of the most important industrial centers in the country; its specialization is metallurgical production, coal mining, industrial and civil engineering.

Excursion to the museum-reserve Kuznetsk Fortress.

The Kuznetsk Fortress was built on Voznesenskaya Hill in the city of Kuznetsk in the early 19th century by order of Emperor Paul I and was part of a system of fortifications, the main purpose of which was to deter aggressive plans of Qing China against Southern Siberia. 

It is worth noting that since its construction, the fortress has never participated in military operations. 

In 1846, the Kuznetsk Fortress was removed from the balance of the Ministry of War and a prison for criminal offenders was organized here, which functioned until 1919. Kuznetsk Fortress is a monument of history, military engineering art and architecture.

Excursion to the literary Memorial Museum of F.M. Dostoevsky.

Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky came to the city of Kuznetsk three times in 1856-1867 and stayed for a total of 22 days. 

Marya Dmitrievna Isaeva, Dostoevsky's future wife, lived in a modest wooden house at number 40. 

The house belonged to Dmitriev-Solovyov, with whom F.M. Dostoevsky was familiar from hard labor, which he served on behalf of the Petrashevites in the Omsk penal colony. 

The museum was opened on May 17, 1980 as a branch of the city Museum of Local Lore, and in 1991 it received the status of an independent cultural institution. 

Since 1996, the museum has been hosting a permanent unique exhibition “Kuznetsk Guidebook”, the authors of which are Moscow specialists from the Experimental Laboratory of Museum Design at the Russian Institute of Cultural Studies of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Currently, the museum is located in the laboratory and exhibition complex of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 

The museum's exposition is divided by epoch: Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age, and the Middle Ages. 

The last hall is dedicated to the spiritual culture of the modern peoples of Siberia and the Far East. 

The museum is famous for the fact that it houses one of the two mummies found in the Altai highlands (extra charge).
