Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Yaroslavl, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov the Great

07:00 Gathering of the group in Moscow: VDNKh metro station, parking lot to the right of the Kosmos Hotel.

    07:15 Departure to Pereslavl-Zalessky.

    Travel sightseeing tour of Pereslavl-Zalessky.

The heart of Pereslavl is Red Square.

Those who, upon learning about this, exclaim: "As in Moscow!", will only be mistaken in the direction. This is the main square of Moscow, which got its name several centuries later in imitation of Pereslavskaya!

A living confirmation of local antiquity is the Transfiguration Cathedral, founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1152. This is the oldest building in Northeastern Russia that has survived to the present day.

    Departure to Rostov Veliky.

    Excursion to the Rostov Kremlin.

The Rostov Kremlin State Museum-Reserve is located on the territory of the former residence of the Rostov bishops, a world—famous monument of Russian architecture.

The ensemble was formed mainly in the second half of the 17th century as a result of the construction activities of Metropolitan Jonah III Sysoevich of Rostov and Yaroslavl.

The architectural ensemble of the Rostov Kremlin consists of five churches, the Assumption Cathedral (XVI century) with a unique belfry, a complex of residential buildings surrounded by a powerful fortress wall.

The Assumption Cathedral, built in the early 16th century, is an impressive building worthy of being the central cathedral of Rostov, one of the main cities of medieval Russia. There is a version that at the junction of the XII—XIII centuries. the rector of the cathedral was the father of the legendary epic hero Alyosha Popovich.

The famous Rostov belfry was built at the cathedral in the 17th century, and has preserved 15 historical bells to this day. And everyone who has been interested in the history of Russia knows about the bells of Rostov.

The visiting "frame" of the Rostov Kremlin is also the fact that it was here that episodes of Leonid Gaidai's legendary comedy "Ivan Vasilyevich changes his profession" were filmed.

Lunch at a cafe in the city.

    Departure to Yaroslavl.

You will visit the Governor's House in Yaroslavl, which was built by decree of Alexander I in 1821-1823. It is included in the UNESCO protected Sites and is an architectural monument of federal significance. On the territory there is a park and a manor house with an interior of the XIX century, which houses paintings by famous artists.

Evening tour of Yaroslavl with a tour of the territory of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery.

You will get acquainted with the history of Yaroslavl, see the Arrow of the Volga and Kotorosli Rivers, the Assumption Cathedral, walk along the Volga embankment reconstructed for the 1000th anniversary of the city, and explore the unique architectural ensemble of the central part of Yaroslavl, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery (XIII century) is the main city landmark. Due to the fortified walls, it is called the Kremlin.

The main cathedral of the monastery, the Transfiguration of the Savior (XVI century), has preserved its original paintings, it is the oldest extant temple in Yaroslavl. At the end of the XVIII century, a handwritten list of the masterpiece of ancient Russian literature "The Word about Igor's Regiment" was discovered here

    Departure to Rybinsk.

Many thanks to “Big Country” for this wonderful tour. The entire trip was organized exceptionally well: the hotels, meals, and transportation were all excellent. But the real highlight of the journey was our tour guide, Denis!!! Honestly, without him the trip would not have been nearly as memorable. Visiting so many churches and historical sites without meaningful context would have quickly become monotonous. Most of the local guides simply rushed through the program with dry facts and dates, almost like a school lecture. Denis, however, made everything come alive. Even before we arrived at each destination, he was already sharing fascinating stories and background information on the bus, which helped us appreciate the places so much more once we got there. Not a single person was late for the bus in the mornings! Everyone was eager not to miss his stories!!! He has an incredible knowledge of the history and geography of the region, and he could make even the scenery outside the window interesting!!! Listening to him never felt tiring because he spoke with such enthusiasm and passion!!! For the last two days we had a different guide, and the contrast was huge - unfortunately, it just wasn’t engaging at all. To sum it up: excellent organization, comfortable travel conditions, and an outstanding guide like Denis made this trip truly special!!! I only wish there were more professionals like him.
