Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Meeting in Yaroslavl. Krasny Profintern — Vyatskoye — Yaroslavl

11:05 Meeting at Yaroslavl-Glavny railway station in Yaroslavl at the monument to Savva Mamontov.

11:15 Transfer to Krasny Profintern settlement.

You will embark on a journey along the unique road of the Yaroslavl Region — the Lugovoi Tract — towards the most beautiful village in Russia — Vyatsky.

The road, which has a seven-hundred-year history, once connected Yaroslavl and Kostroma, saw Minin and Pozharsky, young Mikhail Romanov, Fyodor Dostoevsky and many others. The mention of this path can be found in the imperishable works of Nekrasov and Ostrovsky. The construction of the Gorky reservoir played an important role in the fate of the tract.

A trip along the Lugovoi tract will reveal a lot of new things from the life of the Yaroslavl region, the narrative will touch upon the ancestral Nekrasov places. This is the village of Abbakumtsevo, the place where the poet spent his childhood, and the village of Greshnevo, once the ancestral estate of the family.

The castle of the "starch-treacle kings" — merchants Ponizovkins.

The real decoration of the Meadow tract is the castle of the Ponizovkin merchants in the village. The Red Profintern.

In the 19th century, life was in full swing here: there was a famous starch and treacle factory, its products were distributed to different parts of the country along the "sweet" railway, and one of the owners of the castle drove around the village in a brand-new racing car.

The castle was built almost before the revolution for the family of entrepreneur Nikita Ponizovkin Jr. in an eclectic style with elements of Art Nouveau and Neo-Gothic.

    Transfer to S. Vyatka.

Lunch at the Vyatsky Museum restaurant.

Vyatskoye village is the most beautiful village in Russia, a unique phenomenon in the vast expanses of our Homeland and the undisputed tourist "brand" of the Yaroslavl region. An ancient Russian village with a bright destiny, full of extraordinary events. One of the most famous and best villages in Russia today is a historical and cultural complex.

Vyatka's bazaars and fairs resounded throughout Russia. Today it is an exemplary village, which boasts 50 architectural monuments and unique museums and its own source of healing mineral water.

Visit the Museum of Kitchen Machinery, where the most unusual household items of Vyatka residents are collected: washing machines of Vyatka housewives, mechanized meat grinders, the first toasters and the first mixers, as well as amazing technical curiosities of the century before last.

Visit the museum "Rooms of the Urlov Brothers Merchants", where you can see first-class examples of household items.

The museum tells about the hotel rooms in Vyatsky in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when there were two merchant hotels and three inns in the village.

    Transfer to Yaroslavl.

Visit to the St. Vvedensky Tolga Convent for women.

The current convent was founded at the beginning of the 14th century on the site of the miraculous icon of the Tolga Mother of God, which is still located in the monastery.

The monastery, huge by medieval standards, was completely restored at the end of the twentieth century. The Tolga Convent was the first monastery reopened after decades of state atheism.

And now it is famous for its beauty, majestic temples of the XVI-XVII centuries, amazingly beautiful views of the Volga, a sacred cedar grove, and a large female monastic community. Many pilgrims dream of visiting this monastery, which is under the protection of the miraculous icon.

    Accommodation at the hotel.

    Dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Many thanks to “Big Country” for this wonderful tour. The entire trip was organized exceptionally well: the hotels, meals, and transportation were all excellent. But the real highlight of the journey was our tour guide, Denis!!! Honestly, without him the trip would not have been nearly as memorable. Visiting so many churches and historical sites without meaningful context would have quickly become monotonous. Most of the local guides simply rushed through the program with dry facts and dates, almost like a school lecture. Denis, however, made everything come alive. Even before we arrived at each destination, he was already sharing fascinating stories and background information on the bus, which helped us appreciate the places so much more once we got there. Not a single person was late for the bus in the mornings! Everyone was eager not to miss his stories!!! He has an incredible knowledge of the history and geography of the region, and he could make even the scenery outside the window interesting!!! Listening to him never felt tiring because he spoke with such enthusiasm and passion!!! For the last two days we had a different guide, and the contrast was huge - unfortunately, it just wasn’t engaging at all. To sum it up: excellent organization, comfortable travel conditions, and an outstanding guide like Denis made this trip truly special!!! I only wish there were more professionals like him.
