A journey along the river of Time. Tula Kayaking

What is Tuloma? This is an amazing, almost magical river artery of the Murmansk region, where amazing historical events once unfolded! The Sami, Finns, and Pomors settled on its shores — the real guardians of northern culture. But time does not stand still, and the river was blocked by a hydroelectric power station, turning its rapids into peaceful pools.

Now Tuloma gives us a unique opportunity to enjoy kayaking — you will experience all the delights of this fascinating activity. Imagine how an oar gently touches the water, and the sound of splashing awakens the spirit of adventure! Join us!

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - The beginning of the rafting

We plan to leave Murmansk at 9:00.

The gathering of the group will begin at the former Atlantika cinema on Kolsky Avenue.

Arrival in Verkhnetulomsky will be the starting point of our adventure.

After unloading and packing, we will be briefed, after which we will have a light snack and start rafting on the river.

We will enjoy the magnificent scenery – the banks of the Tuloma River, dotted with dense trees, will be replaced by amazing "bays" where we should stop. Here, amidst the picturesque nature, it's easy to feel like you're walking into a fairy tale.

For fishing enthusiasts, we strongly recommend taking a fishing rod.

In some places there will be an opportunity to catch pike, which will perfectly complement our evening dinner.

The overnight stay will take place on the riverbank or on one of the many islands.

A delicious dinner, tents and the sounds of nature will be the perfect end to the day, immersing us in the atmosphere of the ancient Sami and Pomors.

We will walk 15 km on this day.

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour

When traveling by kayak, we pack all our belongings in small air bags (20 liters) and then into the cockpits of the kayaks. Therefore, although things may not be the most ultralight, they should not be bulky.

PARKING EQUIPMENT.

  1. A backpack (18-20 liters) without a frame (!), which will allow you to go on a one-day radial hike. At the same time, you can come with another bag and put your belongings in air bags.
  2. Mat and sleeping bag (comfort 0C and below) "if it's your own." If not, then the equipment is included in the price.
  3. Tent — with the possibility to lay out separate racks and fabric. If not, then the equipment is included in the price.
  4. The tourist seat.
  5. Personal tableware (KLMN) is not bulky, ideally it is collapsible.

CLOTHES AND SHOES.

Sleep clothes.

A set of thermal underwear makes sleeping more comfortable in warm cotton, you may also need a hat, warm comfortable socks (or fleece socks).

The clothes we go kayaking in. Such clothes can be wet.

  1. On top is a kayaker's jacket or a windproof/waterproof, splash—proof jacket. Under the jacket, we wear either a fleece jacket or an insulating layer made of another synthetic material. You can also wear the same waterproof trousers with synthetic thermal underwear underneath. Splash-proof jacket and trousers can be rented from us.
  2. Dry (drysuit) or neoprene wetsuit. If it's neoprene, then ideally up to 3 mm. But we strongly recommend that you always wear a dry suit when traveling by sea — you can rent from us.
  3. Neoprene gloves and sneakers. We will also give you neoprene slippers if you do not have suitable favorite kayaking shoes.
  4. It is worth taking a synthetic quick-drying cap with you.
  5. Headdress (cap, panama hat, beanie).

The costume for the camp.

  1. A membrane jacket or poncho.
  2. The trousers are either membrane or quick-drying.
  3. Thermal underwear.
  4. T-shirt.
  5. A "fleece" or a sweatshirt.
  6. A warm jacket (or a set of second warm thermal underwear for a membrane jacket).
  7. Trekking socks 1 pair, regular socks 2-3 pairs, 1 pair warm.
  8. Next door.
  9. Gloves.
  10. Short rubber boots.
  11. Trekking boots (low-rise) or running shoes for radial exits.
  12. The hat is warm.

It is also advisable to take:

  1. Lingerie.
  2. Swimsuit.
  3. Sunglasses.
  4. Personal hygiene products.
  5. A camping towel.
  6. Sunscreen.
  7. Hygienic lipstick.
  8. Mosquito and midge repellents.
  9. A hermetic bag for the phone.
  10. A water bottle.

Special equipment.

  1. Head lamp (for August-September).
  2. The camera is hermetically packed or with an underwater box (optional).
  3. Fishing rods.
  4. A personal small first—aid kit (personal medicines, antipruritic drugs, Band-Aids, activated charcoal, enzymes - it all depends on the characteristics of your body, which you probably know). In addition to a personal first-aid kit, there will be a group one, but it won't hurt to have your own.
  5. Hand cream.

Documents (in a waterproof box or case!)

  1. A copy of your passport and a photo on your phone, or with you in your waterproof packaging.
  2. Medical insurance policy.
  3. Money for unexpected expenses.
