Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Flight to Nyagan, Helipad – Grube-Yu River (405 km)

Arrival at the helipad in Nyagan (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra). This is where the expedition to the mountains of the Circumpolar Urals begins.

Waiting for the dispatcher's report and the landing crew.

Boarding with personal belongings on board.

Takeoff. Flight to the Circumpolar Urals (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra).

The approximate duration of the flight is 2 hours and 20 minutes. A 400 km flight to the northwest, almost to the point where the Komi Republic, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District converge.

Travelers will experience the feeling of plunging into the unknown when they only imagine what lies ahead. The flight passes over the famous Khanty-Mansiysk, dark purple swamps, and the great Siberian rivers.

The flight takes place at an altitude of 50 to 1200 meters, depending on weather conditions and wind. Movement along the air corridor is carried out to the north —northwest to the remote inaccessible ridges of the Circumpolar Urals.

After an hour and a half, the picture changes along the course. Mountains grow instead of steppes and swamps. Instead of huge rivers, they are now small, swift-flowing with bright turquoise water.

The pilots wind between the ridges. To the right and left, mountain slopes covered with taiga or stone kurums float by. Places of fantastic beauty of pristine nature.

Boarding on a large clearing near the shore of the Grube-Yu river.

Unloading of the board is carried out directly by all participants of the expedition and should be carried out in the shortest possible time, no more than 3 minutes.

The helicopter is unloaded through the cargo door and the rear swing doors in accordance with safety regulations and techniques.

After the mobile unloading of the group, the helicopter departs. A picturesque clearing on the banks of the Grube River, adjacent to the foothills of the Narodo-Ityinsky ridge, where a base camp is being organized, was chosen as the main landing site for the expedition.

The time of the first day is spent setting up camp, relaxing after the flight and getting ready for the road.

The participants of the trip collectively erect prefabricated structures for a stationary camp for the group next to the river, in a large clearing, from where they can enjoy mountain views, listen to the river roar and the ripples roar, and watch the damp fog go to the river valleys.

The location of the group is a huge flat clearing on the shore, not overgrown with trees — a very suitable choice for stationary accommodation. There is a carpet of blueberries and dwarf birch underfoot. Grube-Yu is making noise nearby. Around the mountain.

Distribution of responsibilities. Each participant is a part of the team and is engaged in setting up a stationary base camp, creating conditions for individual living.

Responsibilities are distributed among all members of the group. Collectively, through the efforts of the participants, reinforced technological tents and personal tents are being installed, firewood is being searched, harvested, a generator, a warehouse complex and a household are being set up to create comfortable conditions for travelers.

The arrangement. Upon arrival of the group, the chef, the guide and the participants are busy setting up and equipping the field kitchen. Most of the time on the day of the group's arrival in the mountains is spent setting up camp, relaxing and recovering from the flight, and preparing for upcoming trips to the routes.

The expedition will stay permanently here, and the participants will set up a base camp.

Prefabricated reinforced enclosed tents are being installed for the stationary camp, inside one of which there is a mess hall: a dining table, chairs, a food storage complex and other camping and field supplies are being installed. The chef is engaged in the preparation and preparation of the upcoming meal.

Dinner and socializing. A general gathering of the group at the dining table. Hot gourmet lunch/dinner from the chef.

Communication of the group members. Discussion of planned routes. It is possible to adjust future routes based on the current weather situation in the mountains.

Free time for the band members, adaptation to the mountainous conditions of the Circumpolar Urals, rest from the flight, campfire socializing, choosing, planning upcoming routes.

Satellite communication with civilization is possible.

    Stand down.

    Rest.

A night in the mountains. The base camp is located on the banks of the mountain glacial river Grubeyu. The circumpolar Urals. Narodo-Ityinsky ridge. Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug — Yugra.
