Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Sightseeing tour of Torzhok. Visit to the Marmalade Kingdom Tourist Complex

    07:45 Gathering of the group in Moscow, VDNKh metro station, parking lot to the right of the Kosmos Hotel.

    08:00 Departure to Likhoslavl.

    Likhoslavl is an ancient city in the Tver region, where Russian-folk traditions are firmly intertwined with the customs of the Karelians. This town preserves the extraordinary flavor inherent in the Finno-Ugric lands.

    Inspection of the monument to the Karelian Rune Singer, the personification of the collective image of Tver Karelia, standing near a pine tree.

    Visit to the Tourist complex "Marmalade Kingdom" with a Carnival program. Marmalade Kingdom is one of the first marmalade museums in Russia, opened with an existing production facility. To visit the "Marmalade Kingdom" is to visit a fairy tale, and it is everywhere here.

    Marmalade Fairy Tale is a gastronomic brand of the Tver region. The factory was opened in 2005, and since then it has consistently produced marmalade exclusively from natural ingredients.

    Visiting an amazing museum is considered a great success and a real event!

    The journey through the kingdom is accompanied by guided gurus in a marmalade theme and includes:

    • getting to know the history of the recipe's origin and the nuances of making natural marmalade;
    • visit to the laboratory of new tastes;
    • tasting marmalade over a cup of fragrant tea.

    The program of the Carnival festivities includes a bright festive program in the fresh air, well-done fun, contests, songs, round dances.

    This place is saturated with a fabulous atmosphere and characters. There is also a completely undaunted Baba Yaga, a clockwork Kikimora, a Hedgehog factory symbol, a restless Carlson and other famous and beloved characters. Beautiful photo zones made especially for the visitors of the complex.

    Lunch at a cafe in the city with a tasting of the famous Pozharskaya cutlet. A unique recipe for cutlets of the first half of the 19th century, Torzhok is the birthplace of this gastronomic brand.

    Departure to Torzhok.

    Sightseeing tour of Torzhok— an ancient city founded by Novgorod merchants at the turn of the 10th-11th centuries. Its streets still preserve the spirit of pre-revolutionary Russia of the 19th century.

    The main reason for coming here is the special flavor of the Old Russian provincial town, which Torzhok has preserved through the centuries.

    Sightseeing of important attractions:

    • Borisoglebsky Monastery, founded in 1038, is called one of the most ancient, created earlier by the famous Kiev Pechersk Lavra.;
    • The 17th-century Vvedenskaya Church is part of the Borisoglebsky Monastery complex, the oldest surviving one in Torzhok. Current version;
    • monument to Ephraim of Novotorzhsky, the patron saint of the city and the founder of the Borisoglebsky Monastery;
    • The Transfiguration Cathedral - Temple is "jokingly" called the "piece of St. Isaac." The main architectural dominant of Torzhok, welcoming everyone who comes to the city with its splendor;
    • shopping area and the embankment of the Tvertsa river. The main tourist points of Torzhok. The embankment offers a magnificent view of the Borisoglebsky Monastery.

    Many thanks to “Big Country” for this wonderful tour. The entire trip was organized exceptionally well: the hotels, meals, and transportation were all excellent. But the real highlight of the journey was our tour guide, Denis!!! Honestly, without him the trip would not have been nearly as memorable. Visiting so many churches and historical sites without meaningful context would have quickly become monotonous. Most of the local guides simply rushed through the program with dry facts and dates, almost like a school lecture. Denis, however, made everything come alive. Even before we arrived at each destination, he was already sharing fascinating stories and background information on the bus, which helped us appreciate the places so much more once we got there. Not a single person was late for the bus in the mornings! Everyone was eager not to miss his stories!!! He has an incredible knowledge of the history and geography of the region, and he could make even the scenery outside the window interesting!!! Listening to him never felt tiring because he spoke with such enthusiasm and passion!!! For the last two days we had a different guide, and the contrast was huge - unfortunately, it just wasn’t engaging at all. To sum it up: excellent organization, comfortable travel conditions, and an outstanding guide like Denis made this trip truly special!!! I only wish there were more professionals like him.
