Rafting on Bityug and Donskoy Belogorye for 7 days

Nizhny Bityug, from the village of Mechetka to the mouth, is a clear and transparent river that meanders through the floodplain and then spreads in wide patches. On its left bank there are water meadows with a rich variety of grasses and flowers, while on the right there is a chalk slope, in some places covered with forest.

At the confluence of the Bityuga, the Don River is about 100 meters wide. The right bank is cretaceous cliffs overgrown with grass. There is a deciduous forest on the slopes, a lot of thyme, and strawberry glades.

In the old days, monks built cave monasteries in the Cretaceous mountains of the Middle Don. One of them, the Voskresensky Belogorsky Monastery, is the largest in our region in terms of the length of underground galleries. The total length of the underground passages in it exceeds 1300 meters. We will be able to visit this monastery in the final part of the seven-day hike.
