A multi-day expedition through the territory of the Polar-Ural Natural Park. In 10 days we will drive 440 km and walk 76 km. You will visit the beautiful lakes Hadataengalor and Bolshoe Shchuchye (it is also called Yamal Baikal), stay in nomad camps and feel the full power of the Ural Mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Salekhard is a city on the Arctic Circle
Meeting of the group at Salekhard airport (AK Yamal Flight YC 31).
Airport-hotel transfer (group, minibus).
On the way to the hotel, stop at the 66th Parallel stele to cross the Arctic Circle with an invited guest.
After the crossing ceremony, all guests receive certificates of crossing the Arctic Circle.
Transfer to the hotel, accommodation in rooms (standard, double, breakfast).
Lunch (not included in the price).
Sightseeing tour of the city (minibus).
Obdorsky prison. Obdorsk (the former name of the city) is one of the oldest cities in Siberia. The open-air architectural complex is made in compliance with all the rules of architecture in the Russian Empire of the 16th century and without a single nail. The wooden fortress built on the river bank tells the story of the development of the Russian north and the development of the city.
Victory Park is a large–scale cultural and historical complex, where military equipment from different eras is presented.
The church in the name of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul was built according to the project of the German architect Gottlieb Zinke. This is the only preserved religious building of the XIX century in the city and the district, reflecting the history of the spread of Christianity in Siberia. It is an architectural monument of regional significance.

The stele "Romantics of the 70s" is a symbol of the development of the North in the 60-70s of the XX century, when Komsomol members reached out from different parts of the Soviet Union to explore and raise the north. And this could only be done by people with a burning heart, an iron will, faith in themselves and others. And, therefore, real romantics;
The objects of the 501st construction site during the GULAG are one of the dark pages of Russian history. Part of the "road to nowhere" - the route of the Chum–Salekhard–Igarka railway (under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR) took place in Salekhard. Today it is a monument to the victims of Stalin's repressions.
MVK named after. Shemanovsky. The main museum of Yamal holds a unique exhibit - the remains of the mammoth Lyuba. The baby was discovered near the city in 2007. The permafrost has completely preserved the skin, trunk, all other parts of the body and even the contents of the mammalian stomach. The discovery has become a sensation for the entire scientific world!

Day 2 - The beginning of the expedition is the way to the Jade Waterfall
7:00 a.m. Breakfast.
7:30 Transfer to Labytnangi (minibus).
Loading into snowmobiles Trekol.
Departure to the village of Harp (60 km).
The journey begins in the village of Harp.
On all-terrain vehicles, we will go along the Rai-Iz mountain to the village of Polyarny, cross the beautiful valley of the Nyrdvomen-Shor stream, known as the Jade Valley and organize a halt overlooking the Dinosaur Mountain (Nyrdvomen-Iz).
Here we will walk to the cascading waterfall on the stream, work up an appetite and after a camping lunch we will continue our journey.
On board the all-terrain vehicle, we will wade across the swift Sob and, admiring the scenery from the window, we will reach the Malaya Pipudyna River, where we will stop for the night.
Camping lunch and dinner.
Overnight in a tent camp.
The pedestrian part is about 8 km.
The distance on the Tracks is 60 km.
The places of stops for snacks are determined by the conductor based on the actual weather conditions.

Day 3 - Visiting an abandoned mine
Today we will get acquainted with an unusual place – an abandoned mine.
In 1944, Soviet geologists discovered quartz veins containing a rare metal, molybdenum, in the Polar Urals.
The find was valuable, as this metal was widely used in the defense industry.
This is how the Harbin tungsten-molybdenum deposit was discovered, and the stream was later renamed to Molybdenum.
After the end of the war, an order was given to develop the deposit and build a mining and processing plant, a settlement for workers was also built there.
In the period from 1951-1953, the factory produced about 35 thousand kilograms of molybdenum concentrate.
But after Stalin's death, as well as flooding the market with cheap Chinese ore, it was decided to mothball production.

Day 4 - From the Golden Stream to the Spruce River (Khadyta)
The fourth day of the expedition will give us a meeting with the families of nomadic reindeer herders, wonderful views of mountain ranges and blueberry fields, as well as trekking to a small but very picturesque waterfall hidden from prying eyes.
The transport part of the route is 80 km (TRACK).
The walking part of the route is 5 km.
A hearty field breakfast, dismantling of the camp.
Departure to the route.
Crossing the valley of the Bolshaya Pipudyna River and exit to the highest pass (more than 600 m above sea level).
Departure to the source of the Langotyegan River, where you can often meet nomadic reindeer herders, we will definitely stop for a short conversation and a photo.
Departure to the pass (more than 400 m above sea level) on Langotjegan-Keu mountain, transfer to Nemurjegan creek.
We will have lunch with views of the majestic peaks of the mountains, picking delicious blueberries on local wild plantations.
We will drive through the picturesque valleys of rivers and streams, along the way we will find beautiful lakes and mountain slopes. Passing the mountains, Graphite and Marunkeu along the way, we will stop for a small trekking to the waterfall and in the evening we will drive up to the Hadata River, where we will set up a tent camp.

Day 5 - IGAN is the largest glacier in the Urals
Today we will visit the IGAN Glacier, named after the Institute of Geography of the Academy of Sciences.
This is the largest glacier in the Polar Urals.
The transport part of the route is 20 km (TRACK).
The walking part of the route is 12 km with a climb of 600 m.

Day 6 - Meeting of Europe and Asia
Today we are heading towards our goal – the easternmost point of mainland Europe, which is located on Mount Ngodyakha.
And you will also meet one of the most beautiful lakes in Yamal – Bolshoy Shchuchy.
The transport part of the route is 60 km (TRACK).
The walking part of the route is 6 km.

Departure to the route along the Vorgashor stream towards Bolshoe Shchuchye Lake. Along the way, we will meet reindeer herders' camps, which will add a special Yamal flavor to your landscape photos.
Climbing Ngodyakha Mountain (793 m above sea level), visiting the easternmost point of continental Europe.
Field lunch (hot lunch in thermoses, tea in thermoses).
After lunch, we will move to the famous Yamal Lake Baikal – Bolshoe Shchuchye Lake.
We will pass the pass (570 m above sea level) and descend to the source of the Shchuchya River.

Day 7 - Yamal Baikal
We will spend the seventh day with Yamal Lake.
Bolshoe Shchuchye Lake is the deepest (about 150 m) in the entire Ural mountain system.
The lake is considered sacred by the locals and has a very powerful energy.
Paradoxically, the pike ignored the waters of the lake, so it was never there.
The origin of the name has several versions:
according to one of them, the lake was named so because of its shape, similar to a huge pike;
another version is connected with the heroes of Nenets folklore, who fought with the evil magic pike from the lake;
Well, according to the precepts of the same Nenets, the pike is a sacred ancestral animal that well deserves to have a lake named after it.

The walking part of the route is 13 km.
A hearty field breakfast.
Mountain trekking to the viewpoints of Bolshoe Shchuchye Lake. If the weather prevents us from going up, then we will take a walk along the shores of the lake, look at the mountain slopes overhanging the lake. Reindeer herders often stand near the lake – we will definitely stop by to say hello and learn more about life in the tundra.
Field lunch (dry rations/sublimates, tea in thermoses).
Free time.
Field dinner, sauna, overnight stay.
Day 8 - From Lake Bolshoe Shchuchye to Lake Bolshoe Hadataeganlor
On this day we will begin our journey home.
The road of this day will lead us to one of the most beautiful lakes – Hadatha (Hadathaeganlor), located at the foot of the Rikhoi ridge.
The transport part of the route is 40 km (TRACK).
The walking part of the route is 3 km.
A hearty field breakfast, dismantling of the camp.
Departure to Lake Hadatayeganlor. In fact, two lakes and one river participate in the Hadatayeganlor water system. The origin of the name "Hadathaeganlor", which consists of three parts, is interesting: - the name of the river is Hadata; - "yegan" (translated from the Khanty language - "river");
"ent" (translated from the Khanty language - "lake".
Three reservoirs stretch along the Ural Mountains and are forever bound together by the harsh northern nature.
Field lunch (dry rations/sublimates, tea in thermoses).
After lunch, we will walk to Lenin Waterfall, picking delicious blueberries along the way.

Day 9 - Cascade Creek – Nemuryegan Creek
Today we will visit another beautiful place on the way home – the waterfall on Cascade Creek.
The transport part of the route is 40 km (TRACK).
The walking part of the route is 2 km with a climb of 100 m.
A hearty field breakfast, departure to the starting point of the hiking route.
Exit to the waterfall, climbing.
Field lunch (dry rations/sublimates, tea in thermoses).
Transfer to the overnight place on Nemuryegan creek.
Setting up a tent camp, field dinner, overnight stay.
Day 10 - The way home
On this day, we will have a long road home.
Part of it will take place among picturesque slopes, stream valleys and floodplain forests.
Along the way, we will pass bear spots, stop for photos at the canyon of the Ingilor Creek, overcome swampy areas along the Langotjegan River and, if we are lucky, we will see wild musk oxen.
The transport part of the route is 170 km (TRACK).
The walking part of the route is 0 km.

Access to the technological road Obskaya-Bovanenkovo, which will return us to civilization.

In general, clothes for traveling in Yamal can be divided into two types.

Clothing for tourism: the main principle is layering. The 1st layer is thermal underwear. Its function is to provide thermoregulation. Anyway, it can be useful on the ascent. It definitely won't be superfluous. The 2nd layer is a fleece jacket /bike to keep warm. The 3rd layer is a light sintepon or down jacket (so to speak, a summer down jacket);
Trekking shoes are of particular importance: it should be above the ankle, with a pronounced tread. It would be a mistake to go on the climbing route in urban sneakers. You can say goodbye to them in an hour. Shoes should be worn out. A brand new pair will cause a lot of inconvenience.
Also useful: in case of bad weather - a waterproof raincoat / jacket, wind / moisture-proof trousers, shorts (if it's hot), cotton socks, buff / scarf / wide shawl, sunglasses, cap (a sports hat will also not be superfluous), thin sports gloves.
Clothes for city excursions and walks (according to the weather). As a rule, it does not differ in any way from the urban style in other regions of the country: jeans, shorts, T-shirts, hoodies, socks, sneakers / boots, sandals, etc. I.e. here you can take with you what you feel comfortable walking in. It is also necessary to take clothes for the house, underwear, slippers, flip-flops, a swimsuit / swimming trunks (if you want to swim in mountain lakes), a personal first aid kit, hygiene products.
