Altai. Shavlin Lakes

The Shavlin Lakes are a popular place among the Altai mountain ranges. They fascinate with their unique water color, peaceful landscapes and silent grandeur. The beauty of the North Chui range, high-altitude lakes with crystal clear water, eternal Altai glaciers are waiting for those who are ready to listen with their hearts and open up to adventures.

We will get the skills of mountain tourism in fantastic scenery created by nature itself, admire the pristine beauty of the snow-capped peaks of Dream, Fairy Tale and Beauty. Let's experience the feeling as if we were in a film about wildlife – stormy rivers and clear water, high skies and distant horizons, fields of flowers and dense forests, only all this in reality! The cherry on our camping cake will be a trip to the amazing Geyser Lake.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Transfer from Gorno-Altaysk to Chibit

We meet with the group at the airport of Gorno-Altaysk, check in with the instructor.

We get on the bus, today we have a long road trip to the village of Chibit.

A few hours of prolonged ascent, and, voila, we are at the Seminsky pass, the highest point of the Chui tract – 1894 m above sea level (9 km ascent and 11 km descent).

The road winds through cedar forests and leads us to the Chike-Taman pass (1,460 m).

Although it is lower than Seminsky, it resembles a "roller coaster" with serpentine descents and steep ascents.

Hold on tight, this pass will give us a lot of thrills!

From the top there is a wonderful view of the majestic Altai mountains.

We pass the confluence of the Katuni and Chuya rivers and then head along the Chuya Valley.

The mountain river boils, rages, roars with its rapids – a fascinating sight.

By evening, we finally get to the campsite, where we will camp overnight with tents.

We are preparing the first camping dinner, getting to know each other and taking a break from the long road.

We are taking it from Gorno-Altaisk.

    Transfer before 4 o'clock.

  • Day 2 - Parking on the Oroi creek
  • Day 3 - Oroi Pass (2040 m), the Yeshtykel plateau and a parking lot at the confluence of the Shavla and Shabaga rivers
  • Day 4 - The way to the Lower Shavlinsky Lake
  • Day 5 - Day trip, radial access to the Upper Shavlinsky lake
  • Day 6 - The way back
  • Day 7 - Long transition
  • Day 8 - The base in Chibit
