Hike to the foot of Belukha. Altai

In this trekking trip we will go to the foot of the main peak of Altai along one of the most picturesque hiking trails. 

Every day there is a new altitude, river valleys and mountain lakes of rare beauty and magnificent panoramas of Belukha, which opens up in a new way every kilometer of the way.

In addition to Belukha, during the 11 days of the trip we will see: a multi-colored gorge Yarlu, the Lake of Mountain Spirits, the Valley of Seven Lakes, the Akkem glacier, the most beautiful lake in Altai, Ak‑Kem, and we will climb the Black Heart pass (Kara-Tyurek) — places endowed with extraordinary energy.

The trip will take place with light backpacks, and we will stay in a comfortable campground on Lake Akkem.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Meeting. Transfer to Tungur

    The group will meet in Biysk near the railway station or in Gorno-Altaysk near the bus station at 9:00.

    Departure from Gorno-Altaysk by transfer to the village of Tyungur.

    The distance is 416 kilometers.

    Travel time is 6-8 hours.

    We'll stop for lunch along the way.

    In the afternoon, we arrive in the village of Tyungur and stay at the base in guest houses.

    We get to know each other, prepare for the upcoming drop, have dinner.

  • Day 2 - Transfer to the Tekel parking lot
  • Day 3 - Transfer to the campsite by Akkema

It is suitable for people who like hiking and active pastime. 

Hiking does not require special skills, but average physical fitness is needed — there will be crossings from 5 to 20 km.

Most of the trip will be carried with light backpacks.

We will stay in a comfortable tent campsite on Lake Akkem, where we will set up tents on decking, a sauna, a kitchen and a cozy gazebo for you. All you need to bring with you are your personal belongings, shoes, clothes and a backpack.

The tour includes accommodation in a tent campsite on Lake Akkema and at a campsite in the village of Kucherla.

Camping 7 nights

The first night at the Tekelu parking lot, where our intermediate campsite will be located, followed by accommodation at the campsite on Lake Ak-Kem — all inclusive (large new tents, meals, sauna).

Accommodation in a separate tent is possible — it is negotiated individually (depends on the workload of the campsite), an additional fee of 500 rubles / day.

    • cars of different formats: passenger car/minivan/minibus depending on the number of participants;
    • other tourists are often present in the transfer, for example, our climbing group, which runs part of the route in parallel with trekking;
  • habitation:
    • 2 nights with meals (2 breakfasts, 2 dinners) in 6-bed guest houses at the Active Life tourist base in Kucherla;
    • with meals at the campsite in the Akkem lake area (8 nights according to the program). Camping tent: 4-seater tents, placed on floorboards, camping canteen, camping kitchen, tent bathhouse with steam and hot water;
  • GAS drop-66 p. Kucherla parking lot "Three birches" (on the second day of the program);
  • ejection on GAZ-66 parking lot "Three birches" — p .Kucherla (on the tenth day of the program);
  • transportation of public cargo to the campsite in the area of Akkem lake (tents, equipment and food are thrown in advance);
  • meals on the active part of the route: 
    • Hot breakfasts and dinners (porridges, soups, cereals, vegetables) are served at the base camp in the Akkem Lake area. During lunch, the group is most often on the route, so snacks (sweets, nuts, dried fruits, lard, sausage, cheese) are provided;
  • registration of the group in the Ministry of Emergency Situations;
  • group first aid kit (at Akkem Base Camp);
  • public camping equipment (campfire, gas, etc.);
  • satellite communications in case of emergency, radio communications and navigation;
  • consultations of the guide and the organizers during the preparation.

Paid extra

  • air and railway tickets to Gorno-Altaysk/ Biysk and back;
  • meals at roadside cafes during the transfer;
  • personal camping equipment (backpack, sleeping bag, track. sticks, etc.);
  • horse-drawn drop-off of personal gear and equipment to the campsite in the Akkem Lake area and back:
    • It is important to keep in mind that the horses follow a different path and bring the cargo to the base camp on the second day, just as the group arrives at the base camp for the second night. Therefore, you can not give away things that will be useful for the first overnight stay (sleeping bag, etc.). 
    • the cost of horse casting is 850 rubles/kg (prices are approximate).

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour

Shoes:

  • trekking / mountain boots (high boot to protect the ankle, aggressive tread, it is also important that your shoes do not get wet, we recommend using impregnation);
  • trekking sneakers (suitable for participants with a trained ankle, there are many sections with stone scree on the route, so it is not recommended for beginners to wear sneakers);
  • slippers/sandals (closed-toed shoes are required to protect fingers from injury).

Clothes:

  • windproof jacket with a hood (we recommend taking a membrane jacket that will protect you from precipitation);
  • windproof trousers (we recommend taking membrane trousers that will protect you from precipitation);
  • a down jacket with a hood (you need a light down jacket (up to -10), with synthetic insulation, or down);
  • insulated jacket (a jacket with fleece lining is suitable);
  • thermal underwear (it is better to take a combination of synthetics and wool, medium thickness, or thin);
  • mittens/gloves 1 pair (made of fleece or other quick-drying materials);
  • hb gloves;
  • hat (fleece, or other quick-drying, breathable materials);
  • panama hat/cap/buff from the sun (buff is necessary to cover the neck from the sun's rays);
  • thermal socks 2 pairs (for summer trekking);
  • warm socks (for sleeping, not compression);
  • lightweight trousers (made of quick-drying materials, breathable), shorts (summer, quick-drying);
  • T-shirt 2 pieces (made of synthetic, preferably with long sleeves);
  • replaceable underwear 2 pieces;
  • socks are ordinary, hb 2 pieces;
  • swimsuit / swimming trunks.

Camping equipment:

  • expedition backpack 80-90 liters (men), 60-70 liters (women);
  • assault backpack (small backpack for radial routes with a volume of up to 40 liters);
  • rain cover on the backpack (make sure that the cape will be put on a filled backpack with a caremate attached);
  • sleeping bag (comfortable temperature from -5 and below, we recommend using synthetic materials);
  • compression bag (in order to keep your belongings dry and facilitate transportation);
  • karemat — 1 pc. (for overnight stay in the parking lot "Tekelu");
  • trekking poles (it is important to choose poles specifically for trekking, not Scandinavian walking);
  • headlamp with LEDs (be sure to insert new batteries);
  • sunglasses with UV filter of the third protection category (preferably with a cover);
  • thermos, hydrator, water bottle 0.5 — 1 l.;
  • lighter;
  • knife, mug, spoon, stainless steel cup;
  • towel made of quick-drying materials;
  • Toothbrush;
  • patch 1 roll Width 2-3 cm.;
  • sunscreen and lipstick;
  • first aid kit + vitamins;
  • reftamide (a remedy for ticks and other insects).
