Baikal trail to the valley of volcanoes

Volcanoes, thermal springs, mountains, pristine nature — and all this on Lake Baikal. Can you imagine? A small branch of Kamchatka in the center of the country is an amazing place to see. The complete absence of civilization, the bright colors of the mountain Oka combined with snow—capped peaks, and in the final - crystal clear and vast Lake Baikal.

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour

Equipment and accessories:

  • a backpack for women with a volume of at least 70-80 liters, for men 80-90 liters.;
  • polyurethane mat;
  • a plastic bag or a hermetic bag (inserted inside the backpack to protect against moisture);
  • headlamp;
  • sunglasses;
  • sleeping bag — temperature regime depending on the time of year and place of travel;
  • spoon, mug, knife;
  • rain cover — only for routes where the temperature stays above zero;
  • matches sealed in polyethylene or plastic packaging, or a lighter.
  • individual first aid kit (with the necessary set of personal and specific medicines no more than 200 grams by weight);
  • photo camera;
  • thermos or plastic bottle;
  • protective equipment against blood-sucking insect bites on routes (mainly on routes where the temperature does not drop below zero);
  • sunburn products (required in the mountains and traveling by water)

Clothes, shoes, etc.:

  • underwear — at least 2-3 sets;
  • thermal underwear (set, depending on the time of year. Jacket + tights) — 1-2 pcs .;
  • trousers are light, sporty, for daily wear, depending on the time of year;
  • jacket, fleece, etc. 1-2 pcs. (preferably made of modern materials);
  • storm suit – jacket + trousers. Availability is mandatory in summer — protection from wind and rain. A jacket is better insulated with a hood (according to the time of year, as a rule, in the mountains and on Lake Baikal it should be mandatory). Trousers – protection from wind, moisture;
  • plain socks (or trekking socks) — 2-4 pairs;
  • wool socks (trekking, insulated) — at least 2 pairs;
  • 2 pairs of shoes — trekking boots and sneakers with thick soles or sneakers + rubber boots with a liner and a warm insole;
  • for climbing – mountain climbing boots + trekking boots;
  • light sneakers on request (for crossings, recreation centers, on trains, etc.);
  • trekking poles are recommended only for hiking routes, combined at the discretion of the participants;

Note: During the day in the mountains, the sun is active and snowmelt is possible, so shoes should have good water-repellent properties (rubber boots (in addition to boots)).

  • warm sports hat — 2 pcs. (in summer, a cap with a visor + a cap);
  • personal hygiene products (toothbrush and paste, toilet paper, etc.);
  • gloves in summer are a simple 2 pairs.

Important! It is mandatory to have the following documents on the entire route – a passport, a compulsory medical insurance policy, and a birth certificate for the child. For children under the age of 18 traveling on the route accompanied by a person responsible for them (without parents), it is necessary to have written parental consent, a certificate from a therapist, if there are chronic diseases (the tourist assumes responsibility for his health on the tour).

The requirement for a set of "personal belongings" is nothing superfluous and heavy, since besides them you will have to carry food (about 600-800 grams per day per person) for the entire route and group equipment (tents, axes, boilers, etc.).
