The Great Baikal Journey

After breakfast, you will be provided with a boat transfer to Listvyanka. 

Along the way you will meet some of the most spectacular Baikal views. 

Cape Bolshoy Kadilny, towering over Lake Baikal like an impregnable fortress. 

The village of Bolshye Koty, sheltered in a small bay, is like a fabulous settlement. 

Cape Skriper, resembling the fin of a huge fish, separates it from the rest of the world with a huge wall.

In Listvyanka, you will check into a hospitable and cozy hotel – Krestovaya Pad. 

Here you will have lunch and go on a sightseeing tour of the tourist village, which is the hallmark of Lake Baikal. 

One of the points of the program is the Baikal Museum, the center of all accumulated knowledge about the Great Lake. 

For example, you will learn why Lake Baikal is so clean, you will be told the story of the famous railway and the nature of mysterious underwater earthquakes. 

Also here you will get acquainted with the sweetest inhabitants of the lake, all recognizable endemics – Baikal seals!

Then you will take the cable car up to the Chersky Stone observation deck, which offers an incredible panorama of the Khamar-Daban ridges, the Listvyanka water area and the Shaman-Kamen rock at the source of the Angara.

According to legend, this symbol of justice was thrown by Father Baikal after his daughter Angara, when the wayward beauty was running away to the Yenisei. 

In the evening, we return to the hotel for dinner and share our impressions of the first days of the trip.

In the morning you will cross the Angara River and at the port of Baikal you will board a retro train, which is a modern locomotive-powered wagons.

On such transport, a simple trip will turn into a real historical excursion. 

While traveling along the Circum-Baikal railway, you will feel the unique regularity and chic of the "Beautiful Epoch" of the late XIX – early XX century. 

While traveling along the KBZHD, you will see long tunnels with rounded galleries, high viaducts with perfect arches and reinforcing retaining walls with Italian masonry. 

At the Shumikha station, a tunnel passing through Cape Polovinny awaits you. 

It is the longest on KZHBD – 777 meters! 

And Cape Sharyzhalgai will amaze with incredible spectacular rocky ledges, against which you can see as many as three tunnels in a row. 

Of course, we must not forget about the incredible beauty of Lake Baikal. 

You will enjoy views of the boundless lake surface, rocky cliffs and snow-capped mountains. 

The end of the tour in Slyudyanka. 

Transfer to Baikalsk and check-in at the Grand Baikal Hotel.

Under certain weather conditions and train schedules, it is likely that the tour of the KZHBD will take place by boat. The water route runs along the shoreline, from where it will be convenient for you to observe all the artful elements of the Circum-Baikal Railway in combination with the spectacular Baikal nature.

We leave for the historical port of Tankhoi, where you will visit the Baikal Nature Reserve visitor center with a modern exposition that will immerse you in the wildlife of the Baikal taiga. 

The main rule that guided the organizers of the exhibition was interactivity: touch special sensors and listen to the cry of a lake gull or the sounds of a Baikal seal.

The historical and memorial complex "Baikal Ferry" is located on the territory of the complex. 

Here you can learn about the history of Tankhoi and the legendary Baikal ferry. 

Also visit the open-air exhibition "Fisherman of Baikal" and the aviary complex "Barguzinsky Sable", where you will have the opportunity to observe two mischievous sables, a thunderstorm and a Cloud in their natural habitat. 

Lunch is waiting for you during the tour. 

After the visit center, you can take a walk along the well-groomed eco-trails or admire the great Baikal.

Dinner will be served upon your return to the hotel.

Today you will go to the village of Arshan. 

Of course, first of all, visit the market with real goods from Mongolia, where you can also buy clothes made of camel wool and cashmere. 

But most of all, you may be interested in the famous fragrant Siberian Ginseng, or Sagan-Dayl.

Next, we will walk along the mountain path along the stormy Kyngyrgi river. 

On the way you will meet the Arshan spring.

The composition of mineral water makes it useful in the treatment of many gastrointestinal diseases. 

Then we will go along the improved path to the waterfall. 

At a calm walking pace, we will reach the right place in just an hour.

You will see a narrow gorge of stone piles. 

It's hard to believe that this beauty formed on its own! 

After the waterfall, you will go down to the Hoimor datsan to see the sacred glade with hundreds of obo stone pyramids, touch the khurde prayer drum and receive a prediction according to the Buddhist horoscope from local lamas.

Before leaving for Baikalsk, if you wish, you can stop in the village of Zhemchug (optional, not included in the price).

There are hot springs with a unique composition of water.

It includes methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and radon, which have a beneficial effect on the body in diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

We return to the hotel in the evening.

On the sixth day of the tour, after breakfast on the way to Irkutsk, you will visit the Mineral Museum in Slyudyanka.

The halls of this private collection of stones feature a unique collection of calcite, apatite, diopside, spinel and 80 other types of minerals. 

Each of them is special in its appearance and has a unique symbolism and meaning. 

Then we will visit the world's only railway station, made entirely of white marble. 

There is a permanent interactive exhibition inside. 

The main feature is projectors that display an image of swimming fish directly on the floor! 

Inside you will find exhibits and stands telling about the life of Lake Baikal. 

Upon arrival in Irkutsk, we check into the Angara Hotel. 

You will miss a lot if you don't finally take a walk around the city center. 

Irkutsk is notable for its historical wooden buildings. 

For example, the 130th block, where such houses have been adapted to the modern needs of the city.
