The romance of Lake Baikal

Today we will get acquainted with the island of Olkhon, we will drive to the northernmost point. 

Olkhon is a sacred place, with powerful energy, its own soul and strength! 

The nature of Olkhon Island is very diverse. 

In one day we will see endless steppes, sand dunes like in a desert, dark coniferous taiga, a pile of marble rocks covered with colorful lichens and magnificent panoramas of the Small Sea and the great Baikal. 

Cape Khoboy is the northernmost point of the island, a place of power. 

All around, inaccessible cliffs drop down hundreds of meters into the depth of the lake. 

Very close to the deepest place is 1637m. 

Let's walk to the cape, feel the energy of these places, learn the legend of Virgo.

And at this time, a delicious Baikal lunch is being prepared for us, part of which will be fish soup with Baikal fish!

Boat trip to Ogoy Island. 

Ogoy Island, stretching a narrow winding strip of land from south to north for 6 km, strongly resembles the dancing goddess Dikanya with outstretched arms from the air, is located in the center of the Small Sea. 

The Buddhist Stupa, officially referred to as the stupa of Enlightenment, the Conquest of demons, built at the highest point of the island (512 m), at an altitude of 60 meters above the level of Lake Baikal, turned out to be located just in the area of the heart of the island. 

The stupa project was developed by an Irkutsk architect. 

The construction was led by a lama from Bhutan. 

We will take a boat through the waters of the Maly Sea, admire the rocks of Olkhon Island, climb to the top of Ogoy Island, enjoy the silence, feel the incredible energy of this place and, of course, make a wish. 

We return to Olkhon Island, lunch and free time. 

You won't be bored.

The most beautiful Sarai beach, Shamanka rock, is located nearby.

You can walk for hours, charging with the energy of Lake Baikal, listening to the sound of waves and admiring the relic forest. 

And if you are set up for a more active holiday, then you can choose additional excursions, there is something to do here: fishing, evening boat trip in the waters of the Small Sea, visiting an ethnic Buryat village, horseback riding (paid separately).

If you are not afraid of roads and crossings, then excursions along the mainland coast of the Small Sea are for you: Sarminsky Gorge, Dream Cave, Valley of Stone Spirits, ATV safari (paid separately).

Boat trip to the Circum-Baikal Railway.

KBZHD is a unique architectural monument. 

You can often hear the second name – "The Golden buckle of the steel belt of Russia". 

424 engineering structures have been built on 84 kilometers of road from Kultuk station to Baikal station, including 39 tunnels with a total length of 8,994 m. 

14km of retaining walls, 47 stone and 3 iron galleries have been built in collapse-prone areas.

In terms of volume, complexity and cost of work, this section had no equal among the railways of Russia. 

We will disembark in several places. 

We will admire the unique structures, walk through tunnels, stone bridges.

We will have lunch on the shore and return to Listvyanka.

If we are lucky, we will be able to see the Baikal seal.

But today we have the Baikal Museum in our program. 

This is not the kind of museum with ancient exhibits and strict staff. 

The Baikal Museum is a real scientific institute. 

Here we will be able to look at the earthquake sensor, which records the movement of the earth's crust live, get acquainted with the history of Lake Baikal and look into its maritime future. 

Let's be surprised by the hundred-kilogram sturgeons and look at the epic. 

We will personally get acquainted with the inhabitants of Lake Baikal – grayling, sturgeon, pike, hamaruses and gobies, omul and seal. 

You will definitely have to be torn away from the latter by force. 

We will climb to the observation deck of the Chersky Stone by a picturesque cable car. 

On the way to Irkutsk, we will visit the Taltsy Museum.

The architecture of the 17th and 19th centuries is collected here. 

The real estates of artisans and huts of peasants were exported from various areas of the Baikal region.

A temple with mica windows, a real prison with guns, a cascade of watermills. 

All this is collected on the large territory of the museum. 

There is also an inn. 

Here you can have a snack with incredibly delicious pastries and drink tea with Siberian herbs (self-paid).
