Elbrus is the highest peak in the Caucasus, Russia and Europe, the height of the eastern peak is 5,621 meters.

The ascent route from the east through the Achkeriakol lava flow leads to the Eastern Peak and is included in the program of 7 peaks (ascents to the highest peaks of all continents).

Itinerary

Day 1 - The meeting of the group in Mineralnye Vody. The beginning of the route along the Irikchat gorge
We meet the participants in Mineralnye Vody.
Transfer from 10:00 to 11:00 at the railway station, from 11:30 to 12:00 at the airport.
Transfer to the Elbrus region.
Check-in at a campsite or hotel, depending on the selected option.
Walk to the waterfall on the Kogutai River for 1-2 hours, climb 200 m.

Day 2 - Acclimatization ascent to the peak of Cheget or Itkol
After breakfast, go out for an acclimatization ascent.
Trekking on Cheget, a very popular route with excellent views of Elbrus and Donguz-orun.
We will make rest stops for recuperation every hour.
We will pass through two cable car stations, where we will relax and enjoy the views.
You can also refresh yourself at the stations by ordering tea and chebureks or hychines.
The duration of the ascent is 5-6 hours, the descent is 2 hours, the climb is 1450 m.

Day 3 - Ascent to the Barrel Shelter
After breakfast, we will go to the rental if any of the participants need equipment.
After that, the transfer will take us to the cable car to Elbrus.
We will climb to a height of 3750 m, where the shelter of the Barrel is located.
After settling in, we go out for acclimatization, the task is to climb to the end of the rock ridge, the height is 4300 m.
Descent into Barrels, dinner, overnight at an altitude of 3750 m.

Day 4 - Holidays in Terskol
We go downstairs in the morning.
Today we are resting and getting ready to go on the route.
We get equipment at the rental, pack backpacks.

Day 5 - Exit to the route, climbing Elbrus from the east
The transfer will take us to the village of Elbrus, right at the beginning of the trail along the Irik-chat gorge.
Here is the beginning of the route to Elbrus from the east.
The weight of the backpacks at the start will be about 20 kg, we will spend the next 6 days away from civilization, we will carry all the necessary food and equipment ourselves.
By prior arrangement, you can hire a porter (a cargo porter — 5,000 rubles / day), you can chip in together- three.
Overnight in the "Rock Garden" at 3000 m.
The journey duration is 6 hours, the climb is 1300 m.

Day 6 - Crossing to the Irik-chat pass, exit to the Achkeriakol lava flow
We leave early to move in good weather (in summer in the Caucasus, the weather in the morning is often better).
We climb the Irikchat pass and then pass the parking lots on the Red Hillock, cross the glacier Irik (in bundles) and we will go to the beginning of the lava flow.
The height is 4000 m.
The journey duration is 7-8 hours, the climb is 1000 m.

Day 7 - We are moving the camp to 4600
We assemble the camp and climb to a height of 4600 m.
There are places for four tents here, we put them up.
We have lunch and make an acclimatization exit to a height of 4900 m.
The duration of the ascent is 7-8 hours, the climb is 600-900 m.

Day 9 - Climbing Elbrus
From overnight stays at 4600 m we go out at night.
We climb to the eastern peak of Elbrus — 5621 m.
The lifting time is 7-8 hours.
We go down to the saddle and rest.
In case of good weather and normal condition of the participants, we climb to the western peak and descend to the south.
At a height of 5100 m, you can call a snowmobile to descend faster.

Day 10 - Rest in the village of Terskol
You will spend this day in the village of Terskol (the tourist center of the Elbrus region).
Transfer to the village. Terskol.
Accommodation at the hotel.
Walking around the surroundings of Terskol, visiting the local market where you can buy various souvenirs related to Elbrus.
In the evening, a Russian wood-burning sauna with a broom.
If necessary (if there is no weather for a long time), this day will be used as an additional reserve day for climbing.

Day 11 - Transfer to Mineralnye Vody
Return to Mineralnye Vody and Pyatigorsk, transfer in the morning.

Day 12 - Departure
A reserve day in case of bad weather. Thus, the group will have 4 days to wait for good weather and climb to the top of Mount Elbrus.

Climbing Elbrus from the east is technically simple and suitable even for beginners, people coming to climb Elbrus for the first time. The tour to Elbrus from the east is essentially an expedition, we carry all the food, equipment and clothes with us in backpacks. We need experience, love of camping life and overnight stays in tents.

From the first day of the tour, our guides will teach participants the technique of walking, first along the trails, then on snow and ice, we will constantly tell and show how to breathe properly, what to pay attention to when climbing. Before storming the summit, we conduct trainings on the interaction of the group when moving in bundles, teach how to use an ice axe, trekking poles. We practice the correct walking technique in cats.

Camping equipment

a backpack of 65-80 liters with a rigid back and the ability to glue a mat and an ice axe on the outside. A cape for a backpack from the rain;
sleeping bag. The comfort temperature is -5.... -10 C, preferably with a synthetic filler;
when placed in a shelter, it is the lightest and smallest, the shelter has heating, blankets and pillows, a sleeping bag is needed only as bed linen;

Trekking clothes for 1-4 days

the puffer jacket is high-altitude, mandatory in spring and autumn above 5000 meters;
insulated climbing boots;
insulated shoe covers allow you to use trekking boots on climbing;
gaiters on your feet from getting snow and dirt into your shoes;
mask, buff or balaclava to protect your face from the wind;
warm, windproof gloves, better mittens;
