Russian estates in the provincial towns of the Ivanovo region

Where else will you hear about the lives, secrets and hobbies of writers, patrons and other famous personalities of the past and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of county towns, if not in the provinces?

You will find out which city was called Russian Manchester and why, see the estates of the philanthropist Burylin, who collected antiquities, and the playwright Ostrovsky and taste the famous pie in the Tsvetaev Museum.

And then you will walk along the Volga River, where prototypes of characters invented by Ostrovsky once made promenades, and you will visit an excursion to the Konstantin Balmont Museum, which will be conducted - no less — by a guide in the image of a lady of the Silver Age.

The sign "Russian estates in the province".

Boarding the bus (there is free seating on the bus).

Ivanovo city tour "Secrets of the calico kings". The history of the formation of merchants and patronage of Ivanovo-Voznesensk.

In the second half of the 19th century, the village was called "Russian Manchester", it became the center of a large textile agglomeration. Ivanovo merchants and patrons D.G. Burylin and Ya.P. Garelin made a huge contribution to the cultural and artistic life of the city in the 19th century.

    Lunch at the cafe.

A visit to the rich urban estate in the Art Nouveau style, owned by D.G. Burylin, one of the largest Ivanovo manufacturers and patrons, the creator of the Museum of Industry and Art.

The estate began to take shape in the middle of the XIX century, when a one-story main house appeared at the intersection of streets. In 1902-1903, it was completely rebuilt and received a second floor.

Dmitry Burylin was a true patriot of Ivanovo – Voznesensk: in addition to his main job, he was engaged in charity and social activities a lot. But his special passion was collecting. He built a special building for the collection of rarities and antiquities.

The house was designed by architect Alexander Snurilov in the Art Nouveau style with appropriate wrought iron decor, stucco and Italian stained glass windows. There are many small rooms, secret doors and passages, the owner of the house was very fond of riddles and mysteries.

Transfer to the village of Novo-Talitsy.

Visit to the unique museum of the Tsvetaev family.

An island of spiritual harmony, comfort and inspiration. This is where the Tsvetaeva family originates, whose representatives were the great Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva and her father Ivan Vladimirovich Tsvetaev, founder of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

The museum's exposition is based on authentic exhibits: personal belongings, books, photographs, as well as household items and family heirlooms are collected, which makes it possible to get acquainted with the Tsvetaevs' life, their habits and hobbies, and learn about their services to the Fatherland.

There is a reading room in the attic of the museum house, which contains more than 3,000 volumes of works by poets and writers The Silver Age.
