Visit to the Museum of Kholui Art: among the 5,000 items of storage, you can see not only works of Kholui lacquer painting, but also household items, paintings, graphics, sculpture, samples of decorative and applied art (embroidery, lace weaving). Palekh is a village where every tenth resident is an artist. The golden Firebird serves as the symbol of the village, the amazing art of creating Palekh lacquer boxes has been living here for almost a hundred years.

Return to Shuya. Shuya has been the center of Russian industry, trade, and the development of various crafts and folk crafts since ancient times. Embroidery dates back to ancient times. Having previously existed as a domestic activity, it was one of the first to turn into a craft, and then into a craft due to its close ties with the urban environment.

It was the city that became the determining factor in the formation of the artistic features of embroidery art. Varieties of stitching technique in the last century in Shuya were various earrings, white embroidery, white stitching using darning and flooring, white stitch embroidery with the introduction of colored outline of the contours of the pattern, a seam on the letter, as well as delicate and complex tracery.

Previously, zoomorphic motifs were often reproduced in white stitch embroidery: roosters, deer, horses, leopards, peacocks, swans. The Shuisky craftswomen were particularly fond of the pattern called "peacock-bird". In Shuisky embroidery, peacocks are distinguished by their fantasticism and fabulousness, splendor and richness of stitch cuts, enriched with colored outline of silk and woolen threads.

A visit to the museum, where an exhibition of products from the Shuisky sewing factory is presented.

Get acquainted with the products of the Shuisky strochevyshivalny factory — one of the few enterprises that preserve the traditions of folk art crafts. It was founded in 1934, products are produced here either individually or in small batches. Admire the man-made beauty.

If possible, you can purchase your favorite linen products from the factory (tablecloths, napkins, sundresses, blouses, bedding sets).

Here you will be told and shown how the pattern was manually stuffed on headscarves in the 19th century at the Posylin factory in Shuya. By the end of the XIX century, printed calico shawls became widespread in the peasant environment, where they supplemented or replaced ancient women's headdresses — caps, magpies, kokoshniks, becoming an organic part of the traditional women's costume.

The headscarf belongs to the traditional type of headgear. Its ancient form was a piece of homespun cloth, the surface of which could be decorated with a printed pattern. The printing business has been known in Russia since ancient times. Printed fabrics were used to make not only garments, shawls, but also tablecloths, towels, and various kinds of curtains.
