This ancient Volga town is located on the shore of the Gorky reservoir. In the first half of the 19th century, Puchezh was a center for hiring boatmen (by the beginning of navigation, up to 6,000 boatmen gathered), as well as a marina on regular steamship routes along the Volga.

A visit to the Museum of Local Lore, which carefully preserves two stories of the city: the old town, flooded by the Gorky reservoir, and the new town, which is only 66 years old. The museum features exhibits related to the history of the vanished city: a mock-up of the old Puchezh, its photographs, household items, models of ancient river vessels.

Since ancient times, there was a scribbled fishery in Puche, which has survived to our time. The traditions of the Puchezh embroiderers are continued by two enterprises — the Richelieu factory and Istoki.

Next, our way lies to the city of Yuryevets, the oldest city in the Ivanovo region. Yuryevets is an ancient Russian city founded in 1225 by the Grand Duke of Vladimir Yuri (George) Vsevolodovich. It was once a fortress city on the border of the Northeastern lands, then a major trading port on the Volga.

Among the famous Yuriev residents are Archpriest Avvakum, architects the Vesnin brothers, directors Andrei Tarkovsky and the storyteller of our childhood Alexander Rowe.

Our guided tour of Yuryevets will begin from the observation deck, which offers a picturesque view of the Volga River. You will see the historical center of the city with churches of the XVII-XIX century, among which the bell tower of St. George the Victorious stands out, shopping malls.

Transfer to Reshma village.

The first mention of the village of Reshma dates back to the beginning of the 16th century, although excavations conducted nearby indicate a much earlier appearance of the settlement. The Makaryevsky monastery was founded near Reshma in the XV century.

Later, Reshma became a major trading settlement because the first merchant ships leaving the upper and lower reaches of the Volga after the liberation of the river from the ice met in the area of Reshma. This place was very suitable for hosting a fair.

The fair was called Makaryevskaya after the name of the monastery monastery. Initially, these lands belonged to Fyodor Ivanovich Belsky. During the reign of Tsarevna Sofya Alekseevna, Reshma was awarded, among other awards, for the second Crimean campaign to her neighbor, Prince Vasily Golitsyn, the royal seal and the guardian of state embassy affairs. Under Peter the Great, it became one of the royal possessions.

We will begin our acquaintance with this village with a visit to the Makariev-Reshemsky monastery. Everyone who comes here feels grace and peace, and the stunning views of Mother Volga will not leave anyone indifferent. The monastery is known as the Makaryevskaya hermitage. According to legend, Saint Macarius and his disciples dug a well under the mountain, the water from which is considered healing.

Walk to the holy spring (take a container for holy water with you). If you wish, you can visit the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Are you imbued with a leisurely, monastic life? Now it's time to get interested in rural life.

You can admire the quiet, peaceful beauty of the Russian countryside.

Cape Lyubov is the highest viewpoint on the right bank of the Volga River in the Kineshma district. A cliff overgrown with a pine forest, offering an amazingly beautiful view of the bend of the great river, along which merchant ploughs from the Varangians to the Greeks sailed long ago, steamboats with red goods sailed, and gloomy boatmen dragged barges.… There are many legends, creepy and romantic stories associated with this place.

Kineshma was a large and rich, but rural settlement (sloboda). Kineshma received city status only in 1777 as part of Catherine's city reforms.

In addition to the Volga trade, the city also developed its own textile industry.

The most beautiful place is considered to be the Volga embankment, along which we will certainly take a walk.

Back in ancient times, people chose the hill on the left bank of the Teza River and, without further ado, named the settlement Shuya, as the left side was called in ancient times. In the 14th century, it became the patrimony of one of the branches of the Suzdal princes, who received the nickname Shuisky.

The Shuisky princes, brave and wayward, proud of their belonging to the Rurikovichi, played a significant role in Russian history. Perhaps that's why this small town was once famous, and its life was closely connected with important milestones in the development of the Russian state.

A private "Cheese Factory behind glass" is already waiting for you, where a glass wall separates the workshop and the store, so that customers can see the entire cheese production process.

The company produces more than 15 types of soft and semi—hard cheeses, halloumi cheese for frying, American Parmesan Monterey Jack (the only hard cheese in the range so far) and camembert cheese with white mold, as well as butter and cottage cheese. Cheeses are made using both European technologies and Soviet-era developments.
