Adyr-Su is a stunning gorge that preserves lakes and waterfalls of extraordinary beauty. It is here that the sacred mountain Ullu-Tau is located. There is only one working alpine camp in this gorge. There are no many hotels, cafes, hustle and bustle, there is no mobile connection. This is a place for those who love peace and quiet and want to take a week off from civilization. During the week of rest we will see 2 lakes, 2 waterfalls and a lot of stunning mountains with glaciers and snow caps!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival. Verkhny Baksan village — Adyr-Su gorge — Ullu-Tau camp
11:00-11:30 Gathering of the group at the railway station and at the airport in Mineralnye Vody.
Transfer by minibus to the village of Verkhny Baksan (2.5-3 hours).
Here the usual asphalt ends, and the road rests against the rocks.
It was in this place that a mountain lift for cars was built a long time ago.
The car drives onto a special platform and with the help of a unique mechanism rises up to 30 m.
For cars, this is the only way to get into the Adyr-Su gorge.
At this point, the instructor and the tourists walk up the stairs (ascent, approximately, 7-8 floors).
We carry personal items and groceries with us.
If the mountain lift is working, then we lift all things on the lift and go up light.
Then we will move by mountain transport deep into the Adyr-Su gorge.
This is where the car crossings end and we will spend the next 7 happy days in a very spiritual place!

Day 2 - Trekking along the valley of the Adyr-su river, Silver spring, Dzhaylyk alpine camp, Koyavgan waterfall
Today we are going for a simple walk, during which we will take a good look at the Adyr-Su gorge.
The first interesting object is the Silver Spring.
This is a huge spring that gushes out of the ground.
As scientists say, the water here is saturated with silver, you can drink it with pleasure.
There is also a large font in one place, you can even take a dip.
There is a clearing near the Silver Spring, which pleases us with a variety of colors throughout the summer months!
On the way, we will look into the former Dzhaylyk alpine camp.
Once it was a noisy and lively place, but now there is peace and quiet here.
Crossing the river over the bridge, we go to the other bank of the Adyr-Su river.
Entering the coniferous forest, you will see how spectacularly Ullu-Tau Mountain rises in the distance.
Despite the fact that we have an easy route today, but it is very rich in beautiful views!
Soon we will come to the Koiavgan waterfall.
At the very beginning of summer, he still modestly hides under a snowfield, but since mid-June the waterfall has been hitting with a full-flowing, beautiful stream.
From the observation deck near the waterfall there is a view of the Kulumkol gorge, where we will go to the Living Lake.

Day 3 - Ullu-Tau Mountain, The Female stone, the Glade of Desires
The very day has come when we will go to visit the mistress of this gorge — Mount Ullu-Tau!
On the way to the mountain, we will see a Female and a Male stone, a huge stone of Desires.
Yes, yes, yes, stock up on wishes, today we will often make them!
Girls who dream of having a child specially come to the Women's Stone.
And the stone fulfills this cherished wish.
Tested on our beautiful tourists, it definitely works!
A well-trodden trail in a few hours will lead us to the foot of Ullu-Tau Mountain, where there is a special energy.
This is probably why the Glade of Desires appeared here — a huge, flat plateau on which dozens of pyramids of stones are built.
The instructor will give you free time, you can build your pyramid and make a wish.
When we come to the stream, we will stop for lunch in a large clearing.
To begin with, we will climb the neighboring moraine to admire the stunning panorama of the mountains from a height: Sarykol, the Twins, the majestic Cheget-Tau-Chan and, of course, Ullu-Tau itself will be very close.

Day 4 - Kullumkol River Valley, hike to the Living Lake
Today will be a difficult day, we have to climb more than 800 m.
Today's goal is a Living mountain lake.
In mid-June, spectacular ice floes are still floating here, and by the end of the month the lake is completely free of ice and pleases with its emerald hue.
The way to the lake lies along the Kulumkol gorge.
After climbing a little, in the gorge opposite, we will see from afar the Koiavgan waterfall, which we visited a few days ago.
On the way to the Living Lake, we will make many stops near rivers and springs.
Climbing higher, we will receive the first gift — in clear weather, Elbrus is visible from here!
Moving on, the path will take you along paths, sometimes over rocks.
Looking back to the right, we will notice the first lake in the distance — this is a Dead lake.
And our goal is a Living lake, which we will reach at the end of the route.
We'll have a big rest stop and lunch here.

Day 5 - Observation Green Shelf, Gumachi Glacier and Gumachi Waterfall
Let's go for new species!
After leaving the camp, we will cross the bridge of the Adyr-Su river, and then begin the ascent to a large rocky ledge called the Green Shelf.
In the middle of June, we will see blooming rhododendrons along the way!
Climbing to the Green Shelf, we will look at the alpine camp from a height and look at Ullu-Tau mountain from a completely different angle.
From here, its eternal glaciers seem even closer and more spectacular!
We go down, on the way in August we will have a delicious bonus in the form of blueberries.
The path will run along the river and lead to the full-flowing Gumachi waterfall.
This stream is born from the huge Gumachi glacier, which we will also see from a safe distance.
Today is a simple, walking day.
Going out to the waterfall, we will relax in a clearing and have lunch with a view of the mountains.
The active part of the route: 9.2 km, altitude difference 2380-2700-2380-2500-2380 m, route duration 5-6 hours.

Day 6 - Glacier of the Jalovchat gorge
Today, we will go along the already familiar path towards the Dzhailyk alpine camp, and then we will go into the forest, into the Dzhalovchat gorge.
This gorge also boasts a glacier, waterfall and great views all around!
A long time ago, a huge glacier lay here, which left behind large moraines.
Along one of the moraines, we will climb higher into the gorge.
From here, we will look at the upper reaches of the Kulumkol gorge and see many mountains with snow caps.
The active part of the route: 12.9 km, altitude difference 2380-2800 m, route duration 6-7 hours.

Day 7 - Return to Mineralnye Vody. Departure
Our tour ends, today is the day of departure.
12:30-13:30 Arrival in Mineralnye Vody at the railway station and airport, departure home.
Depending on the weather conditions, the physical condition of the participants and other factors, the route may be changed.

The route is trekking. Trekking is walking through mountainous (rugged) terrain. This type of outdoor activity involves daily climbing and dropping heights (ascents and descents).

The route passes through forest trails, dirt roads, alpine meadows, large and small stones. The routes will have an altitude difference of 480-610 m per day. On one day of the route, the altitude difference will be 840 m. Climbing up 480-610 m is about like climbing 160-200 floors.

Dear tourists, do not expect comfortable hotels in this gorge, as they have not yet been built. This is the best accommodation on Ullu-Tau of all possible.

Accommodation in 2, 3-bed rooms. There are beds, bedside tables, and a hanger in the room. There is no closet, TV, or sockets. Bed linen is provided, towels are not provided. The toilet and shower are outside, the shower sometimes may not work. Electricity is available only in the evenings when the generator is on. Phones and gadgets can be charged free of charge at the hostess of the guest house. There is a paid WiFi.
