Amberland. Kaliningrad Region Tour

Excursion "Sovetsk — former Tilsit, the story of cheese and peace", 8 hours.

You will visit the place where the famous "Tilsit Peace" was concluded. The city of Tilsit, now Sovetsk on the banks of the Neman River, entered European history as a meeting place in 1807 of the rulers of the Russian Empire, France and the Kingdom of Prussia — Emperor Alexander I, Napoleon Buonaparte and the royal couple of Prussia, King Frederick William III and Queen Louise.  

To mark the 100th anniversary of the signing of the peace, the Queen Louise Bridge was built over the Neman River — the symbol of the city. You will walk along the river embankment, approach the house where the Russian Emperor Alexander I stayed during the days of the signing of the peace. 

The main pedestrian street of the old town will lead you to the new museum of the city "Tilsit World", where the atmosphere of the XIX century is recreated in rooms with authentic antiques. 

Visit to the exposition of the private museum "Tilsit world" (if you have a passport of the Russian Federation).

Also, while walking around the city, you will see the main sights of the city: the monument to Queen Louise in the old city park, the sculpture of an elk by L. Vordermeier, as well as monuments important to our national history: the monument to the Soviet soldier-liberator, V. I. Lenin and the first Soviet settlers who moved here from the Second World War and raised this region from the post-war devastation. 

You will feel the magical beauty of the ancient buildings, miraculously preserved during the battles.

Excursion "Amber Coast", 8-9 hours.

Route: village Yantarny – Svetlogorsk.

The village of Yantarny got its name for a reason: according to geologists, the largest amber deposit in the world is located here.

And this is the only place in Russia where industrial extraction of sunstone is carried out. Amber is a business card of the Kaliningrad region.

We will tell you all about amber. The program includes a visit to the enterprise, where you will be told about the extraction, processing of amber and the manufacture of jewelry with amber. You will also learn about the beneficial, healing properties of this stone. Amber is used in pharmaceuticals and in the production of medicinal amber cosmetics. 

In your free time, you can visit the quarry of the Kaliningrad Amber Combine, where amber mining is carried out in an open way, and where the path of stone from the earth to man begins. 

A visit to the quarry is offered on request, payment for tickets at the company's ticket office independently from 1300 rubles.

As part of the tour, there is time for purchases of amber products and souvenirs, because here in Yantarny is the main specialization of activity: stone mining and the manufacture of everything from amber!

We will also take a walk around Yantarny and get acquainted with its history. Previously, Amber was called Palmniken. The decoration of the place is the ancient Lutheran church of 1892 and the building of the Schloss Hotel in 1881, built as the home of the owner of the mining enterprise Moritz Becker, as well as an arboretum with century-old trees — a place where you can hide from the summer heat.

Transfer to Svetlogorsk.

Next, we will get acquainted with the sights of Svetlogorsk-Raushen. You will be fascinated by the ancient architecture of the resort of the late XIX- early XX centuries: private villas, boarding houses, hotels. 

Organ hall, larch park, water tower, Kurhaus, variety theater "Amber Hall". The symbols of Svetlogorsk are the beautiful works of the German sculptor G. Brachert — "Water Carrier" and "Nymph". 

You will be led to the sea by terraced slopes, where a promenade was built near the water for the convenience of vacationers. Shopping, amber shops. 

Excursion "A walk through Gvardeysk and Tapiau Castle", 6 hours.

Route: the city of Gvardeysk.

You will visit the charming town of Gvardeysk, which has preserved the main signs and flavor of the old town of Tapiau: the market square, the town hall with a musical clock, the XVIII century church and the typical urban development for these places. 

And the history of many cities here began with the foundation of the castle-fortress by the knights of the Teutonic Order in the Middle Ages. In the preserved part of Tapiau Castle, you will be transported to the past, rich in bright events and big names of the guests of Tapiau fortress.  

In Tapiau, the Soviet poet and war correspondent A.T. Tvardovsky met the end of the war in 1945, it was here that he would complete the poem "Vasily Terkin". You will see a monument to the beloved hero. 

The city is also known as the birthplace of the German artist Lovis Corinth, famous for his monumental paintings on mythological and religious themes. He is considered the last major portrait painter of Germany in the second half of the XIX — early XX century.

It is impossible to visit the Kaliningrad region without photographing the mysterious castles.

According to the program, we will visit the ruins of Shaaken Castle in the village of Nekrasovo. Its distinctive feature is an unusual oval shape, the Teutonic Order never built similar castles again. A tour of the castle grounds will take you back to the Middle Ages. The impressions will be complemented by the museum of the Inquisition in the cellars of the castle. 

A delicious and interesting addition will be a visit to the Schaakendorf cheese factory with a story about the production of cheeses and chocolate and a tasting with a glass of wine. Here you can also buy cheeses and chocolates in the manufacturer's branded store. 

Photo pause at the modern Nesselbeck Castle in the village.Orlovka, where the famous brewery restaurant is located.  If desired, you can stay here for lunch and then return to Kaliningrad on your own. Nesselbek Castle is located close to Khrabrovo Airport.

Route: NP Curonian spit, Zelenogradsk.

The Curonian Spit is a unique corner of nature, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. A narrow strip of land between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon. A trip to the spit is for everyone who is tired of the noise of dusty cities and dreams of breathing in the fresh sea air filled with phytoncides of the coniferous forest. 

The program of the trip certainly includes the highest dune- the height of Efa; access to the sea and a walk through the forest. Those who wish can buy hot smoked fish on the spit, which is caught and smoked here according to the old recipe. 

Zelenogradsk. You will get acquainted with the oldest and most famous resort in East Prussia — Krantz (now the city of Zelenogradsk). During a walking tour of Zelenograd, you will see the unique ancient architecture of Krantz: boarding houses, hotels and private villas at the turn of the late XIX-XX centuries; St. Adalbert Lutheran Church, Queen Louise Square and the house where she stayed in 1807, and much more. 

A walk along the promenade will allow you to enjoy a wonderful view of the sea.
