The entire Kaliningrad region in 7 days

Today is saturated with the smell of the sea and is almost entirely devoted to the history of the city of Baltiysk and its surroundings.

We will walk along the Northern Pier, 400 meters into the sea, take a guided tour of the branch of the Central Naval Museum and the Pillau Fortress.

After that, we will take a ferry across the Baltic Strait and find ourselves on the spit of the same name, where there are a number of interesting sights: dunes, hangars of the Notif airfield, devoured by the sea, a German coastal battery and the ruins of Fort Zapadny.

There are few outsiders, let alone tourists, and there is an incredible atmosphere of desolation...

Return ferry to Baltiysk.

Route length: up to 150 km by car.

Torture dungeons, a luxurious cheese factory and a hall with medieval armor that you can try on are a strange combination of attractions on the territory of one dilapidated castle.

However, everything is strange here, but that's why it's interesting.

After the story, let's get into culture — we'll stop by Zelenogradsk for lunch, and then we'll go out into nature to compare the Curonian Spit with the Baltic One and finally decide which is better and more interesting.

On the spit, we will look into the Dancing Forest, the height of the Eph and show another place where there are significantly fewer people than in the previous two.

Today we will visit the lighthouse in Zalivino on the coast of the Curonian Lagoon and castles near the border with Lithuania.

It's a very funny feeling when you're standing on a city embankment, and there's another country on the other side of the river.

For residents of the city of Sovetsk, this is, of course, a familiar thing, but for Muscovites and Petersburgers this is a rarity.

The route today is long, with many beautiful landscapes and alleys typical of the Kaliningrad region landscape.

We will get up early: today we will visit the cities of Chernyakhovsk and Ozersk.

Chernyakhovsk will delight with a pair of large and well—preserved castles - Insterburg and Georgenburg, and Ozersk — with the cozy architecture of tiny Prussian towns.

Let's stop by to see the old railway bridge over the Krasnaya River.: There are still pre-revolutionary rails from the Russian Empire!

And the most remote point of the route is the Red Forest (Romintenskaya Pushcha) with the ruins of Goering's summer cottage and Kaiser Wilhelm's hunting lodge.

Paved roads leading into the depths of the forest to the border with Poland, concrete bridges over the river right in the thicket and the need to issue passes to the border area.

We will return to Kaliningrad later in the night.

And off we go again!

The Teutonic Waldau Castle with a simple but cozy museum is waiting for us, as well as the Guards and the correctional colony in the castle: if we're lucky, we'll take a look inside.

We are waiting for the Allenberg Psychiatric Hospital, famous in narrow circles, now abandoned, but striking in its architecture.

We will get acquainted with the peculiarities of the Russian restoration in the town of Zheleznodorozhny: it doesn't seem to be bad, but the feeling of the "Potemkin village" does not leave, seeing how poor the locals live.

The situation is slightly better in Pravdinsk, where the embankment was put in order and the church was restored.

Finally, let's take a look at Bagrationovsk, where we are interested in the ruins of the Forburg of the Preussisch-Eylau castle and the architecture of the old towns, which has already become familiar, disappearing literally before our eyes.
