Helicopter tour to Tolbachik volcano

You will see all the fascinating beauties of the Great Tolbachinsky Fissure Eruption in one day!

Tolbachinsky Valley is a large lava plateau 40 km long and 20 km wide. During the Great Fractured Tolbachinsky eruption, which began in 1975, many red-brown cinder cones were formed here.

From the outside, it may seem that you have come to a lifeless Mars – there is almost no vegetation here.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Helicopter tour to Tolbachik volcano

Transfer to the village of Milkovo.

Milkovo is located 300 km north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, from where excursions to remote areas of Kamchatka are carried out.

Flight to the canyon of the Studenoi River.

The duration is about 1 hour.

A walk along the canyon of the Studenoi River.

The picturesque canyon of the river, cut through the rock formations, stretches for 300 meters.

During the period of snowmelt, the canyon is filled almost to the brim, and during a drought, you can even walk along its bottom.

The volcanoes Flat and Sharp Tolbachik, Nameless, Klyuchevskoy and Kamen are located around.

    Woodpile Mountain.

This mountain is a natural monument, which seems to be made of stone firewood.

In fact, this is one of the cones of the Nameless volcano.

Upon cooling, the squeezed magma was split into small columns of pentagonal cross-section.

The slag cones of the northern breakthrough.

The Northern breakthrough is a chain of cones formed during the great Tolbachinsky fissure eruption in 1975-1976.

Then lava flows flooded an area of more than 40 square kilometers, and new cones up to 300 m high grew at the site of the eruptions.

    The dead forest.

A cloud of incandescent ash covered the forest and burned all vegetation.

This happened during the Great Tolbachinsky Fissure eruption.

Among the ash desert, only the dry skeletons of trees remained standing, around which new life is now making its way.
