Tastes of Karelia. Winter gastronomic tour

In the morning, a Karelian-style breakfast will be served for you.

After breakfast, the guide will tell you about Ladoga, and then you will embark on an airboat route along the Ladoga skerries (about 3 hours) with an ascent to the panoramic points of the Ladoga skerries.

Ladoga Skerries is a picturesque archipelago in the north of Lake Ladoga, consisting of many small rocky islands separated by straits.

One of the striking features of the Ladoga skerries is the so—called "reef mountains". Reef mountains are called mountains that break off into the lake with sheer cliffs, the height of which can reach 80 meters.

A hot picnic lunch with fish on a log, shot down and more will be organized on the route.

After the tour, you will have the opportunity to relax.

You can play board games in the large dome, sit by the fireplace or stroll around the glamping area.

Next, you will have a master class on gravlax: as part of this master class, we will dive "under water" and get acquainted with the inhabitants of our rivers and lakes.

Let's study the ancient features of cooking fish that have survived to the present day!

And, of course, we will participate in the process of preparing and salting rainbow trout!

In the evening, you will have a gala dinner in the panoramic lounge area with a view of Ladoga.

You will taste dishes of northern and Karelian cuisine: Finnish egg salad with red caviar, trout cutlets, Karelian pies (with white fish, dessert with berries).

After breakfast, a master class on gates with traditional fillings will be organized for you.

The gate is the main symbol and brand of the Republic of Karelia.

In our master class, you will learn about the oldest ways of baking traditional gates, get acquainted with the gastronomic customs of ritual baking and create your own unique gate!

Lunch at glamping and departure by airboat to the pier in Sortavala and transfer to the Ruskeala Mountain Park (1 hour on the way).

Here our guide will take you on a land tour of the mountain park.

Ruskeala marble quarry is a monument of cultural heritage of Russia. Development here began in 1765. The walls of the famous St. Isaac's Cathedral, Ladozhskaya and Primorskaya metro stations in St. Petersburg are decorated with Ruskeal marble.

After the tour of the mountain park, you will head back to Sortavala on the unique Ruskeala Express.

This is a steam-powered tourist retro-train that runs along the route of the land road that transported Ruskeala marble to Lake Ladoga.

The interior of the train is decorated in the style of the interior of the carriage on which Auguste Montferrand, the chief architect of St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg, came to Ruskeala.

You will have an evening walk with a guide, a story about the city of Sortavala.

Visit the souvenir shop and drive home.

Return tickets must be purchased for trains departing from Sortavala no earlier than 18:30.
