You will pass through abandoned Finnish villages, past ancient watermills, through protected Karelian forests. The route culminates with a visit to Lake Vakhvajarvi and an abandoned marble quarry.

You will learn about the oldest ways of baking traditional gates, get acquainted with the gastronomic customs of ritual baking and create your own unique gate!
Picnic in the forest
After a walk through the Karelian taiga, you will have a picnic lunch in the forest at an equipped place where you will taste freshly baked trout.
Ethnic evening
You will learn about the traditions and customs of Karelia, solve Karelian riddles, as well as get acquainted with the history of local musical instruments and try your hand at playing them.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - ATV riding through taiga forests and a master class on tinctures

    After meeting at the train station in Sortavala, you will have breakfast in a cozy cafe and go to the starting point of the quad route. 

    You will be provided with a dirt-resistant suit, familiarized with safety techniques, and you will embark on an ATV trip.

    The 3-4-hour route will pass through abandoned Finnish villages, past ancient watermills, and through protected Karelian forests. 

    The culmination of the route will be a visit to the beautiful lake Vakhvajarvi and the abandoned marble quarry (double occupancy on an ATV, category B license is required for drivers).

    A snack will be arranged on the way. 

    After completing the route, you will hand over your equipment and go to the pier, from where you will be transferred by motorboat to the island, located in the very center of the Ladoga skerries.

    After the placement in the domes, we will conduct a master class on the preparation of tinctures. 

    We will perform different versions of making tinctures from berries and herbs, taste original recipes from the chef of the restaurant and prepare a memorable souvenir with ourselves.  

    Next, you will have a welcome dinner with dishes of Karelian cuisine. 

    You will spend the night in cozy hemispherical domes surrounded by a pine forest.

The tour includes accommodation in the Lago Ladoga dome glamping. It is located in the most picturesque place of the Ladoga skerries — on the island of Havus, surrounded by a pine forest.

The surcharge for a single room in a tent is 20,000 rubles/person.

For children aged 7-12, as well as for the third person in the tent, we provide a 10% discount when staying in an extra bed upstairs. Discounts do not add up.

Personal equipment you need for the tour

Personal belongings and equipment:

  • documents in sealed packaging: passport, medical policy;
  • backpack or travel bag;
  • sunglasses and sunscreen and after sunburn;
  • an individual first aid kit;
  • personal hygiene products;
  • bathing accessories and slates (for visiting the furako baths);
  • change of underwear.

Clothing and shoes:

  • comfortable sportswear for outdoor walks (according to the weather);
  • 2 pairs of shoes: trekking boots / rubber boots + sneakers / light replaceable boots (sandals in hot weather);
  • waterproof and windproof clothes for traveling on the lake;
  • headdress (cap, panama hat, sports hat);
  • sweatpants made of quick-drying fabric;
  • neoprene shorts, socks and gloves (preferably, but not necessarily).
