The beginning of the journey.
Two ferry crossings across the Lena and Aldan rivers are waiting for you on the way today.
After 100 km, stop for lunch at a roadside cafe in Tengyulu village.
The village of Tyngyulu is located on a unique permafrost landscape — on the Alas. Alas is formed when underground ice is pulled out (thermokarst), shrinkage of soil and rocks, suffusion, karst, etc.
The lowlands of Alas are usually covered with a swampy lake, and the slopes are covered with meadow—steppe vegetation.
Today, the road is rich in sculptures. Many of them are dedicated to the heroes of the epic and the tales of the Sakha people. We will make a stop at one of them, the sculpture of the hero Nyurgun Botur.
The village of Khandyga is the center of the industrial Tomponsky district.
The former territory of Dalstroy begins from the Aldan River, on which the village is located.
The settlement was founded in 1938 as a base for the construction of the Kolyma highway in the direction of Magadan.
During World War II, an airfield was built here for the Alaska-Siberian air route, along which American Lend-Lease aircraft were delivered to the Eastern Front.
Arriving in Khandyga, you will visit the local museum, whose exhibitions are dedicated to the history of Dalstroy.
Overnight you will stay in the guest house of the village.
The length of the car route is 432 km.
