Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street is one of the oldest pedestrian streets in the city, connecting 4 squares of the city: Minin and Pozharsky, Teatralnaya, Gorky and Lyadov.

Today, strolling street has turned into a real museum, paved with paving stones and granite, full of cafeterias, restaurants, shops, a street with ancient mansions and mansions, which is opened by a bronze policeman, inviting tourists to marvel at the beauty of the ancient city.

Walking tour of Nizhny Novgorod.

You will walk along Malaya Pokrovskaya Street, which is still called "Vorobyovka" by some Nizhny Novgorod residents, since from 1924 to 1991 Malaya Pokrovskaya was named "Yakov Vorobyov Street" in honor of the first chairman of the provincial Extraordinary Commission of Nizhny Novgorod.

Many interesting architectural objects have been preserved on this street. Notable are the buildings of the Guarantee Bank (now Sarovbusinessbank), the house of merchant Ikonnikov, the four-storey building of the FSB directorate, the houses of the people's commune, etc.

Next, you will walk along Zalomov Street (P.A.Zalomov is the prototype of the hero of M. Gorky's novel "Mother") and go out to one of the best viewing platforms in Nizhny Novgorod – Fedorovsky Embankment, from where you can enjoy fascinating panoramic views of Strelka and the zarechnaya part of the city, and in the evening hours – the famous Nizhny Novgorod sunsets.

You can walk along the alley of friendship, find yourself in the basket of a balloon next to Jules Verne and see one of the monuments to Maxim Gorky, which depicts the great Russian writer thoughtfully admiring the confluence of the Oka and the Volga.

After a walk along the embankment, you will descend to one of the oldest streets in Nizhny Novgorod – Rozhdestvenskaya, which is often called "merchant street".

Each building on this street has its own unique architecture and history.

Among the iconic buildings on Rozhdestvenskaya Street, the Rukavishnikov Bank building complex, Stroganovskaya (Rozhdestvenskaya) Church and many others are noteworthy.
