8:30 Breakfast at the glamping cafe.
9:30 Excursion to the settlement of Novosil.
Before starting the rafting, we will take a trip to the past, visiting the ancient settlement in Novosil.
There are traces of an earthen rampart on the high bank of the Zushi River.
In the 12th century, this city was considered one of the largest and fortified points of Russia at that time.
Local historians claim that Novosil was founded by nomadic Khazars in 874, and is one of the oldest cities in Russia.
And only in 1155, in a historically reliable source – the chronicle, we find the first mention of Novosil, associated with the stay of the wife of the Grand Duke of Kiev Yuri Dolgorukov, Olga Grechanka, who hid in it from the constant raids on Kiev by foreigners.
The cultural layer in the settlement is up to 1.5 m, and contains deposits of XII-XIII.
11:00 Continuation of rafting on the river (11 km).
Inspection of the Holy Spirit Monastery.
During our trip, we will stop in the village of Zadushnoye, where the Holy Spirit Monastery stands on the high bank of the Zusha.
It belongs to one of the oldest Orthodox monasteries in Russia and is located on the so-called "Lithuanian Shlyakh", along which hordes of invaders and robbers came from the West to Russia.
This has led to its important strategic importance in the past.
The monastery looks spectacular from the surface of the river, reflected in the waters of the Zusha.
We will spend the afternoon on the water, looking at the limestone outcrops and picturesque slopes along the shores, swimming on rocky beaches.
