This is the first national tourist route in the Sverdlovsk region!

We will follow in the footsteps of the history of mining glory of the Urals and the richest Russian Demidov dynasty, find out what connects Nizhny Tagil with Italy and the Urals with Napoleon, why the facade of Florence Cathedral is decorated with a Ural kailo and how the "leaning" tower appeared.

Diving into history

We will visit the iconic museums of Nizhny Tagil and, if desired , the EVRAZ Metallurgical Plant or the Historical and Technical Museum.

The inclined Nevyanskaya Tower

We will see the Nevyanskaya Tower, the angle of inclination of which is greater than that of the Pisa Tower

Creative workshops

We will take part in master classes on the potter's wheel and on Tagil lacquer painting.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Meeting in Yekaterinburg. Nevyansk. Tavolzhskaya ceramics
08:20 Gathering of the group at the Four Elements Yekaterinburg Hotel, Lenin ave., 9a.
08:30 Departure to Nevyansk.
A travel tour with a visit to the Europe-Asia border and a stop at the obelisk on 17 km of the Moscow highway.
Nevyansk is the city where the Demidov Empire began, founded on the initiative of Peter the Great as a place for an ironworks.
Later, the main facility of the city, the factory, was granted to the Demidov family. The Demidov factories began to appear all over the Urals and Siberia, and the city became the main industrial point of the Urals in the 18th century!
11:00-12:30 Sightseeing tour of the museum complex, directly at the foot of the Nevyanskaya inclined tower of the Demidovs (objects: Nevyanskaya inclined Tower, monument to Demidov and Peter I) with a story about the history of the tower (construction, purpose, location, architectural features).
The uniqueness of the moment is the tower in the scaffolding – with a story about the history of the tower restorations.
Guided tour of the exposition: the history of the Nevyansky region in the XVII – XVIII centuries: the history of the Nevyansky plant during the mining dynasty of Nikita and Akinfiy Demidov, dating back to the first half of the XVIII century; the famous Demidov iron brand "Old Sable"; Tsar blast furnace; the role of the Nevyansky plant and the first Demidovs in the formation of mining Russia, the Russian Empire.
Virtual tour (with the help of a video panel and a prepared video sequence) of the tower: floor-by-floor purpose, patronage legends.
Those who wish will be able to forge a commemorative Demidov coin or mine real Ural gemstones at the mine for an additional fee (during the warmer months).
13:00-13:40 Lunch in a cafe.
13:40-15:10 Visit to the museum of the House of the Nevyanskaya Icon. Acquaintance with an unusual cultural phenomenon of the Ural region – the Nevyanskaya school of icon painting.
15:10 Departure to Nizhny Tavolgi. A guided tour of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (Byngi village).
16:00 Guided tour in the workshop "Potter from Tavolog" with a story about the ancient craft of making ceramic products.
A master class on hand-sculpting from clay and working on a potter's wheel will be held under the guidance of a hereditary potter.
18:00 Departure to Nizhny Tagil.
19:30 Dinner with elements of Ural cuisine in a cafe in Nizhny Tagil.
20:30 Check-in at the Demidov Plaza 4* hotel.

08:30 Visit to JSC EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant.
Excursion "The traditions of the Demidovs – in modern times": the museum complex of the plant, a guided tour of the metallurgical production of the plant (blast furnace No. 7, converter shop or wheel shop), a tour of the historical blast furnace No. 1.
Please note:
EVRAZ is allocated as a visiting facility for an additional fee;
the age of the participants is 14+ ;
The application for a visit to EVRAZ must be submitted no later than 7 days before the tour.
As a substitute for the tour participants who did not get on the EVRAZ tour: The House of Cherepanov Historical and Technical Museum.
This is a rare opportunity to get in touch with the traditions of Tagil inventors, to get acquainted with their biographies and inventions on authentic exhibits.
See the unique astronomical clock of E.G. Kuznetsov, a silver vase – a gift to the inventor of steam engines E.A. Cherepanov from the Demidov breeders, a bicycle of the XIX century and much more!
Of particular interest are the current models of steam locomotives and railways, as well as interactive exhibitions on the history of technology.
Entrance fees are additionally charged.
12:10-12:50 Lunch according to the metallurg menu in a cafe in the city.
12:50 Sightseeing tour of Nizhny Tagil with a visit to the observation deck on Fox Mountain. Demidovskaya cottage.
Nizhny Tagil is one of the largest and oldest mining centers in Russia.
It was here that the most modern blast furnaces in the world were built (from 1725-1735) in terms of their technological equipment and capacity!
The industrial importance of the Nizhny Tagil plants was determined by its strong position in the European market of its metal with the "Old Sable" brand.
It was in the city of Nizhny Tagil that the Cherepanov mechanics created the first steam locomotive in Russia.
14:00-14:50 Visit to the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Local Lore.
The Nizhny Tagil Museum of Local Lore vividly reveals the history of the Tagil region. The museum presents: a collection of paintings and sculptures of Demidov breeders, unique advertising products of Nizhny Tagil factories of the XIX century.
15:00-15:50 Visit to the museum of the history of the tray craft "House of Khudoyarov".
Metal trays appeared at the beginning of the 18th century at metallurgical plants in Nizhny Tagil, owned by the Ural industrialist A.N. Demidov. It is the Demidovs who are the initiators of the industrial production of trays.
16:00-17:30 Master class on Tagil lacquer painting with the provision of all materials at the Tagil Tray Museum and Production Complex.
17:30-18:30 Dinner.
18:30 Departure to Yekaterinburg (on the way, if necessary, a sanitary stop, watching movies).
20:40 Arrival in Yekaterinburg, Marins Park Hotel 3* (railway station), transfer to Koltsovo airport for an additional fee.
