We will follow in the footsteps of the history of mining glory of the Urals and the richest Russian Demidov dynasty! We will find out what connects Nizhny Tagil with Italy, and the Urals with Napoleon, why the facade of Florence Cathedral is decorated with the Ural kailo and how the "leaning" tower appeared!

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Meeting in Yekaterinburg. Nevyansk.

    08:20 Gathering of the group at the Four Elements Yekaterinburg Hotel, Lenin ave., 9a.

    08:30 Departure to Nevyansk.

    A travel tour with a visit to the Europe-Asia border and a stop at the obelisk on 17 km of the Moscow highway.

    Nevyansk is the city where the Demidov Empire began, founded on the initiative of Peter the Great as a place for an ironworks.

    Later, the main facility of the city, the factory, was granted to the Demidov family. The Demidov factories began to appear all over the Urals and Siberia, and the city became the main industrial point of the Urals in the 18th century!

    11:00-12:30 Sightseeing tour of the museum complex, directly at the foot of the Nevyanskaya inclined tower of the Demidovs (objects: Nevyanskaya inclined Tower, monument to Demidov and Peter I) with a story about the history of the tower (construction, purpose, location, architectural features).

    The uniqueness of the moment is the tower in the scaffolding – with a story about the history of the tower restorations.

    Guided tour of the exposition: the history of the Nevyansky region in the XVII – XVIII centuries: the history of the Nevyansky plant during the mining dynasty of Nikita and Akinfiy Demidov, dating back to the first half of the XVIII century; the famous Demidov iron brand "Old Sable"; Tsar blast furnace; the role of the Nevyansky plant and the first Demidovs in the formation of mining Russia, the Russian Empire.

    Virtual (with the help of a video panel and a prepared video sequence) tour of the tower: floor-by-floor purpose, patronage legends.

    Those who wish will be able to forge a commemorative Demidov coin or mine real Ural gemstones at the mine for an additional fee (during the warmer months).

    13:40-15:10 Visit to the museum of the House of the Nevyanskaya Icon. Acquaintance with an unusual cultural phenomenon of the Ural region – the Nevyanskaya school of icon painting.

    15:10 Departure to Nizhny Tavolgi. A guided tour of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (Byngi village).

    16:00 Guided tour in the workshop "Potter from Tavolog" with a story about the ancient craft of making ceramic products.

    A master class on hand-sculpting from clay and working on a potter's wheel will be held under the guidance of a hereditary potter.

    18:00 Departure to Nizhny Tagil.

    19:30 Dinner with elements of Ural cuisine in a cafe in Nizhny Tagil.

    20:30 Check-in at the Demidov Plaza 4* hotel.
