The Imperial Route through the Urals is an exciting journey through the history of the Romanov dynasty and the cultural heritage of Yekaterinburg. 

You will visit the iconic places of Yekaterinburg, Alapaevsk and Ganina Yama: the Temple on Blood, the Poklewski-Kozell House, the Opera and Ballet Theater and the museum of stone-cutting art, monasteries and memorial complexes, and ride on a unique "Imperial Train".

  • Day 1 - Yekaterinburg: sightseeing tour, Poklevsky-Kozell House, Opera and Ballet Theater, lapidary factory, jewelry workshop

    13:00-13:15 Meeting with the guide in the hotel lobby.

    13:15-14:30 Sightseeing tour on a comfortable tourist bus in the city of Yekaterinburg.

    If a group of less than 5 people is recruited, 1 day will be on foot.

    The Yekaterinburg plant was built by the supreme decree of Peter I. Ural iron helped to embody the daring plans of the young empire. It became a "currency" on the international market, restored its defense capability after a long war.

    The appearance of the Mint in Yekaterinburg, at such a distance from the capitals, is an example of the Emperor's trust.

    The Yekaterinburg Imperial Cutting Factory is the oldest Russian stone processing factory.

    It was located in Yekaterinburg, was under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Cabinet. Ural gems crowned the best jewelry creations in the collections of representatives of the House of Romanov. The first Russian gold was found here in the Urals.

    Visit to the monument to Emperor Peter I on the territory of the Historical Park.

    14:30-15:00 Visit to the Museum and Exhibition Center "House of Poklewskys-Kozell".

    The exhibition tells about the Romanov dynasty on the Russian throne, Russia during the reign of Emperor Nicholas II, and the tragic events of July 1918 in Yekaterinburg and Alapaevsk. The exhibition also tells about the history of the discovery of the remains and the investigation into the death of the family of the last Emperor of Russia in the Urals, which lasted more than 100 years.

    15:00-16:20 Visit to the Museum of the History of Stone-cutting and Jewelry Art.

    Excursion. The activities of the Yekaterinburg Imperial Cutting Factory (EIGF) are of great importance for understanding the role of Yekaterinburg and the Urals in the development of Russian stone-cutting art.

    On a thematic tour of the permanent exhibitions of the MIKU "Imperial Yekaterinburg Granite Factory", "Malachite Hall", "Bazhovskaya Room" and the special store "Golden Pantry" you will learn that the history of gem mining, the development of gold and platinum mines and the development of stone-cutting in the Urals is closely connected with the Russian Imperial House.

    A master class. Jewelry and cutting art has always enjoyed a special favor among the monarchs in Russia and Europe: for many, jewelry creation has been something of a hobby.

    For travelers along the "Imperial Route", the museum offers a choice of jewelry assembly workshops.:

    1. Brooch "Alexandra's favorite flower": assembling a brooch from finished accessories in the form of a bouquet with white flowers.
    2. Elizabeth's Bouquet brooch: an assembly of ready-made accessories with colored brooch elements in the spirit of bouquets by Jeremiah Pozieres.

    16:30-17:30 Visit to the Yekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

    A tour of the theater with a visit to the museum of the theater "The White Swan of Yekaterinburg". Theater in the life of the Imperial Family, theatrical traditions, the history of the "imperial" theaters.

    The history of the Yekaterinburg Opera began in the 1870s, when the cultural life of the Ural capital was literally booming.

    In 1912, the building was completed according to the design of architect Vladimir Semenov, and two years later Mikhail Glinka's opera "A Life for the Tsar" opened a new page in the theatrical life of the city.
