Dmitrievsky Cathedral is a monument of Vladimir–Suzdal architecture of the pre-Mongol period.
The Assumption Cathedral is a masterpiece of white stone architecture. It is a unique treasure trove of Russian church art. It preserves paintings of the XII-XIX centuries. The famous frescoes of the icon painter Andrei Rublev.

On the territory of the palace-castle of Andrei Bogolyubsky (the only civil building of Ancient Russia that has survived to our time at least partially), an excursion to one of the oldest Russian monasteries in the Vladimir land – Bogolyubovsky Monastery: chambers of Prince Andrew, Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin (architecture).

The road to the church is on foot, not intended for vehicles. Since the church is located near the mouth of the Nerl River, there may be flooding during floods, floods due to rains, and snowmelt during the thaw. In winter, heavy snowfall and a number of other reasons can be an obstacle.
It was located practically on the river "strelka", forming the intersection of the most important waterways. This miracle, preserved since the 12th century, is called the swan temple.

The main cathedral of the monastery has preserved the original paintings, it is the oldest extant temple in Yaroslavl. A handwritten list of the masterpiece of ancient Russian literature "The Word about Igor's Regiment" was discovered here.

Ipatievsky Monastery is the main symbol of Kostroma.
An inspection of the territory of the recreated Kostroma Kremlin, where the miraculous icon of the Fedorovskaya Mother of God is kept in the Epiphany Cathedral.
It was written around 1239 and is famous for its great miracles and healings. This is the oldest work of Kostroma icon painting. The icon has long been revered as the defender of the city and the guardian of the Romanov family.

Transfer to Izborsk.
Izborsk is one of the oldest Russian cities, first mentioned in the chronicles under the year 862. "From here the Russian Land came," and Russian statehood was born here.
For centuries, the ancient city defended the northwestern borders, played a primary role in preserving the Orthodox faith and the independence of the Russian state.
One of the main attractions of Izborsk is the fortress on Mount Zheravya, which was built in the 14th century and has survived to this day in relatively good condition.
It is from this fortress that Izborsk is believed to have begun its existence: for many centuries, the fortress defended the western borders of the country.

Everything went perfectly! The guides, Denis and Artyom, deserve the highest praise. The way they conducted the tour was truly in a class of its own, engaging, lively, and fascinating. They handled all organizational and practical matters for the group with great care and attention. I would like to commend the company’s management for having such valuable and competent employees! I have no complaints about the tour itself either. The local guides we met were true professionals, passionate about their work. Their explanations were concise and to the point, no unnecessary talk. The sights along the route were thoughtfully chosen and genuinely impressive. As for the minor inconveniences that are inevitable on a long trip like this, I hardly noticed them. In fact, I’ve probably already forgotten about them. Overall, I had a wonderful and relaxing time! Many thanks to all the company staff who helped make this trip possible!

Many thanks to “Big Country” for this wonderful tour. The entire trip was organized exceptionally well: the hotels, meals, and transportation were all excellent. But the real highlight of the journey was our tour guide, Denis!!! Honestly, without him the trip would not have been nearly as memorable. Visiting so many churches and historical sites without meaningful context would have quickly become monotonous. Most of the local guides simply rushed through the program with dry facts and dates, almost like a school lecture. Denis, however, made everything come alive. Even before we arrived at each destination, he was already sharing fascinating stories and background information on the bus, which helped us appreciate the places so much more once we got there. Not a single person was late for the bus in the mornings! Everyone was eager not to miss his stories!!! He has an incredible knowledge of the history and geography of the region, and he could make even the scenery outside the window interesting!!! Listening to him never felt tiring because he spoke with such enthusiasm and passion!!! For the last two days we had a different guide, and the contrast was huge - unfortunately, it just wasn’t engaging at all. To sum it up: excellent organization, comfortable travel conditions, and an outstanding guide like Denis made this trip truly special!!! I only wish there were more professionals like him.
