Day 1 - The beginning of the journey. Getting to know Kolomna and Ryazan
07:45 Meeting of the group in Moscow inside the Leningrad railway station, in the center of the hall at the information stand. The tour guide who meets the group will hold a sign with the name of the tour.
Departure to Kolomna. From the moment of its foundation until Soviet times, Kolomna, due to its location at the intersection of two rivers — the Moscow and the Oka, was considered a strategically important military and commercial settlement.
Sightseeing program: sightseeing tour of the old part of the city.
Kolomna Kremlin is the main architectural ensemble of the city, which has preserved the walls and towers of the XVI century.
It is one of the most powerful and largest fortresses in Russia.
The Kremlin has several streets, 2 monasteries, and museums.
All the buildings have been restored and create a feeling of complete immersion in the atmosphere of the XIX century.
Lunch.
Transfer to Ryazan.
Sightseeing program: city tour with a visit to the Ryazan Kremlin, an ancient fortress and one of the main attractions of the city.
It is an open-air museum with ancient temples and a princely court.
Assumption Cathedral, ramparts, Archangel Cathedral, Oleg's Palace.

Day 2 - Kasimov, Murom and Nizhny Novgorod
Breakfast.
Transfer to Gus-Zhelezny.
Photo stop at the Trinity Cathedral.
Transfer to Kasimov. For many centuries there has been a city between Moscow and Ryazan, which was first called Gorodets Meshchersky, later a New Grassroots City, and even later Khankirman — and this is all Kasimov.
Excursion program: majestic shopping malls of the XIX century, Petrovskaya Zastava, merchant mansions, temples of the city: Ascension Cathedral, Annunciation, Assumption, Trinity churches.
The monuments of Tatar architecture are the mosque with a minaret of the XV-XIX centuries, and the mausoleum of Shah Ali Khan of the XVI century.
Climbing the minaret, which is 22 meters high, you can admire the panorama of the city from a bird's-eye view.
Transfer to Murom, the birthplace of the hero Ilya Muromets.
Lunch.
Sightseeing program: sightseeing tour of the city with a visit to the Oka Park and the active monasteries.
The Trinity Convent, where the relics of Peter and Fevronia of Murom are kept, in whose honor the "Day of Family, Love and Fidelity" is celebrated.
Tour of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, the oldest monastery of Holy Orthodox Russia.
Transfer to Nizhny Novgorod.
The following year, after a successful campaign against the Volga Bulgars, Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich ordered the city to be built at the mouth of the Oka: "he decided to strengthen an important place behind Russia."
The chronicles say that he ordered the founding of a "new city." In 1341, the city was designated the capital of the independent Suzdal-Nizhny Novgorod Principality.
Later Nizhny Novgorod played the role of a guard post, had its own permanent army, and it was here that Russian soldiers gathered before marching on the Kazan Khanate.

Day 3 - Nizhny Novgorod, Gorokhovets and Vladimir
Breakfast.
Sightseeing program: city tour with a tour of the Kremlin — built in 1515, it was considered one of the most advanced structures of Russian military fortification architecture.
The Chkalovskaya Staircase is the main architectural masterpiece of Nizhny Novgorod.
It has 560 steps, the staircase cascade is made in the form of two huge rings, and the difference in climbing levels is almost three times higher than that of the famous Potemkin stairs in Odessa.
Christmas (Stroganov) Church, Annunciation Monastery.
A walk along Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street.
Transfer to Gorokhovets, a city where many temples and monasteries of the XVII—XVIII centuries have been perfectly preserved.
It is a storehouse of ancient civil buildings, including the chambers of merchants of the 17th century, huts of ordinary residents of the posad, decorated with tiles and carvings.
Lunch.
Excursion program: city tour, the ensemble of the city Museum of civil architecture, Russian Art Nouveau.

From a height of 100 meters above the Klyazma River, you will see a delightful natural landscape — an endless taiga-like forest, the surface of a winding river, a wide, wide-open plain, meadows and lakes.,
Transfer to Vladimir, one of the largest cities in the Golden Ring of Russia, located on the high bank of the Klyazma River.
The main asset of the Vladimir land is the most beautiful examples of white stone architecture, included in the UNESCO list.
In 1157, Andrei Bogolyubsky moved the capital of the Rostov-Suzdal Principality from Suzdal to Vladimir. After the death of his father, Yuri Dolgoruky, he did not go to reign in Kiev, but made Vladimir the capital of Russia.
In the 13th century, the city was captured and ravaged by the troops of Batu Khan. The city never recovered from this shock and already in the 14th century it lost the status of Moscow's capital.

Day 4 - Bogolyubovo and Vladimir, folklore program
Breakfast.
Transfer to Bogolyubovo.
Bogolyubovo was first mentioned in the chronicles in 1158. Andrey Bogolyubsky founded the settlement for his residence. There is a legend that it was in this place that the prince saw the apparition of the Virgin Mary, who ordered the founding of a monastery and a city.

Bogolyubsky Monastery.
Walk to the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl (depending on weather conditions).
Return to Vladimir.

Day 5 - Suzdal, moving to Ivanovo
Breakfast.
We are going on an excursion to Suzdal, the museum city, because there are so many monuments of the history of Russia, as well as ancient buildings, unique churches and objects of wooden architecture that have survived to this day in one piece.
Most of the buildings in Suzdal are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
For decades, the ancient city has served as a filming location for many films.
Sightseeing program: sightseeing tour, the architecture of the majestic Suzdal Kremlin, the construction of which began in the 10th century, the stunning Christmas Cathedral. Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery, founded in 1350, Spaso–Preobrazhensky Cathedral with frescoes by Gury Nikitin.

Day 6 - Ples and Kostroma. Boat trip along the Volga (in summer)
Breakfast.
Departure to Ples, a tiny quiet town on the high bank of the Great Volga, popular and beloved by tourists, famous for the outstanding artist Isaac Levitan.
Sightseeing program: sightseeing tour of the city with a visit to Cathedral Mountain, from where you can enjoy amazing views of the Volga River and the beautiful Volga embankment.
Transfer to Kostroma.
Lunch.
An excursion to Kostroma Sloboda is one of the few open—air museums where unique monuments of wooden architecture, huts and churches, have been preserved.
Interactive program "Around the stove".
The hospitable Sloboda hostess will tell her guests about the life, everyday life and traditions of a peasant family.
And after that, the guests will do their own housework: they will try to grab the cast iron from the stove, iron the laundry with a "wooden iron" — a ruby — and walk with a rocker.
At the end of the program, tea with gingerbread is served for all guests.
The excursion program includes a sightseeing tour, a shopping mall complex, a central square, a monument to Ivan Susanin, a fire tower, a gazebo by N.Ostrovsky and much more.

Day 7 - Yaroslavl, Rostov Veliky and Pereslavl-Zalessky
Breakfast.
Transfer to Yaroslavl— the capital of the Golden Ring of Russia.
Sightseeing program: sightseeing tour, Volga embankment, the oldest part — the arrow of the Volga and Kotorosli rivers, monument to Yaroslav the Wise— the founder of the city, Church of Elijah the Prophet.
Visit to the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, where the famous "The Word of Igor's Regiment" was discovered.
Lunch.
Departure to Rostov Veliky. This cozy city, in which unique historical and architectural monuments of the past centuries are located on a small square (the city is only 6 km long).
The city is also famous for its crafts, of which the most famous is probably the painting of enamel miniatures.
Excursion program: Rostov Kremlin — the former residence of the Metropolitan of the Rostov Diocese.

Visit to the Zhar-Ptitsa craft yard to purchase souvenirs.
Transfer to Pereslavl-Zalessky.
Since the 15th century, Pereslavl-Zalessky has been developing as a significant craft and trade center. In the XV and XVI centuries, he was obliged to deliver fish to the royal court, which was reflected on the coat of arms of the city.
In 1688, Tsar Peter I began the construction of a funny flotilla in Pereslavl-Zalessky, which was successfully completed in 1692.

Day 8 - Completion of the program. Sergiev Posad and return to Moscow

Transfer to Sergiev Posad— an ancient town located 52 km from Moscow.
The city is known for its main attraction, the Trinity—Sergius Lavra, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Overall, I enjoyed the tour. Everything promised in the program was delivered. I especially liked the folklore show in Vladimir and the interactive "Around the Stove" experience in Kostroma. I did lower my rating by 1 point because, in addition to the general tours of the monasteries, churches, and cathedrals, I would have liked the opportunity to visit local museums, especially art galleries or applied arts exhibits.
