Itinerary

  • Day 1 - The beginning of the hike. Tundra field, Long Gap fjord, ocean shore, fortification inspection

    We plan to leave Murmansk at 09:00.

    The gathering of the group will begin at the former Atlantika cinema on Kolsky Avenue.

    The journey will take approximately 2 hours, during which you can admire the surrounding beauty and get to know each other.

    The car will take us behind the checkpoint to Liinahamari. Here, at the next bend in the road, we will get off, pack our general equipment and hit the road.

    Our path will first follow a path among rocks, lakes and a large amount of vegetation and trees, then we will come out to even more majestic mountains, where we will be able to see a giant gap in the rock no less than the height of a nine-story house!

    Here, the terrain will become unusual – ahead of us is a large tundra field surrounded by rocks on three sides, steep inaccessible cliffs on the left and right sides, and the most beautiful fjord – the Long Gap!

    Somewhere nearby there is a small river, which we will jump over a couple of times.

    After lunch and enjoying plenty of views, we will go further down to the bay, where we will find not only lush vegetation – ferns, dense trees, but also an almost completely preserved house of no other than a Finnish colonist.

    We will continue our journey along the low tide line straight to the ocean shore!

    Here, in a beautiful and sheltered bay, we will set up tents and set up camp.

    Before going to bed, we will definitely take a walk to the place where the bay connects to the sea – there is a lot of grass here, "pieces of history" under our feet in the truest sense of the word – fancy pebbles, a seashell shore, and in some places remnants of former economic activity from 100 years ago stick out.

    We will also reach the fortification, which at first served its purpose – it was made from the turret of a French tank, and then turned into a monument.

    We'll have dinner, share our impressions, and go to bed to the sound of the sea.

    On this day we will walk 12 km.

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour

The list is intended as a recommendation. However, you should read it carefully and decide what to take with you.

Properly selected equipment will give you confidence in your journey. The instructors have worked out the most competent set of equipment for safety and comfort on the route.

1. Camping equipment:

  • trekking backpack (hiking) – with a volume of at least 80 liters;
  • a cape on a backpack;
  • tracking sticks;
  • sleeping bag with comfort temperature (average value) from +1 to +3 degrees;
  • sleeping bag mat (karemat);
  • tourist seat ("hoba");
  • The trekking tent is two-layered (participants are distributed according to the capacity of the tent, the weight is divided among all). Example: if you have a personal two-person tent and you are ready to move in. At the same time, your tent weighs 3 kg – the participant being moved in carries either half the weight of the tent, or takes a group participant with a tent equal to half its weight, i.e. 1.5 kg;
  • set of personal tableware – mug, spoon, bowl, travel knife (small), thermos from 0.5 to 1 liter;
  • flask or water bottle 1 liter;
  • A headlamp! (for hikes that fall between June and July, you do not need to take it, since it is the time of the Polar Day and White Nights on the Kola Peninsula)

2. Clothes and shoes.

Required set:

  • trekking shoes (high-top boots). Shoes must be worn out. It is not allowed to use shoes disguised as trekking shoes (such as "Boots");
  • trekking socks (2-3 pairs);
  • running trousers (quick-drying from dense material);
  • running jacket (membrane or windproof jacket);
  • base layer (running);
  • underwear is thin;
  • spare base layer (including for sleeping) – underwear;
  • long sleeve T–shirt - 1 pc.;
  • stock of underwear sets;
  • insulation layer (fleece jacket);
  • lightweight warming jacket (puffer jacket or sintepuh);
  • rubber slippers for camps and fords (crocs, sandals);
  • a cap;
  • lightweight gloves (ordinary working cotton gloves will do);
  • neck protection buff;
  • sunglasses;

Optional:

  • gaiters (flashlights) on your feet to protect against dew and sand;
  • raincoat in the absence of a membrane jacket;
  • a bathing suit.

When choosing clothes for a hike, try to choose fabrics that dry quickly and do not absorb moisture (synthetics, fleece, etc.). Also, when carrying spare sets of clothes inside a backpack, care must be taken to keep them dry. Namely, packages in waterproof bags or cellophane bags (a rain cape from a backpack does not provide a 100% guarantee of waterproofness).

3. Other things necessary for the hike:

Hygiene:

  • personal care products (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush);
  • trekking towel (small);
  • sunscreen (with a protection factor of 30);
  • hygienic lipstick;

Medicine:

  • mini-Personal first-aid kit (in which you can put individual medicines, as well as a supply of Band-aids);

Technical means (optional):

  • poverbank;
  • phone charging cable;
  • photo camera;

Documents:

  • passport;
  • medical insurance policy;
  • cash for emergencies.
