Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Snowmobile route to the northern part of Khibiny

    It is more convenient to arrive on the route either by train (arrives in the morning before 09:00), or arrive the day before on a direct flight to Khibiny airport. In this case, you will need an extra night in a hotel in Kirovsk.

    Meeting of participants at the railway station in Apatity.

    Breakfast at the cafe.

    Briefing, snowmobile driving training, acquaintance with guides.

    Snowmobile start in the direction of the hotel Cuelporr (northern part of Khibiny).

    Lunch at the hotel.

    Snowmobile route through several mountain passes. The best opportunity to get great snowmobile driving practice.

    Supper.

    Accommodation for 2-3 people in a room with amenities in the room.

    The daily snowmobile ride is 60-70 km.

The Kuelporr Hotel is located in the north of Khibiny in a picturesque valley on the banks of the Kuniyok River. 

In winter, the guest house can be reached by snowmobile or skiing. The Kuelporr Guest House is a modern one–storey building with an attic.

2-bed rooms with amenities (shower, toilet, equipment dryer) in the room. 

6-bed rooms (shower, toilet on the floor). 

There is a mobile connection. Internet is available for an additional fee.

Varzuga

A small, cozy hotel located on the central square of the village of Varzuga, offers 12 triple rooms with amenities. From some rooms you can see the Assumption Church, the pearl in the crown of Terek architecture. The hotel also has an equipped kitchen-dining room, which operates on the principle of self-service. Products can be purchased in shops within walking distance. The river is a 5–minute walk away.

Next to the hotel there is a steep staircase leading to the top of the hill to the school – from here you can enjoy a fascinating view of the entire village, which stretches along both banks of the river.

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour

Snowmobile expedition clothing:

  • T-shirts, underwear, cotton socks;
  • thermal underwear made of thin polartek;
  • sweatpants made of thick polartek (fleece), a sweatshirt made of thick fleece, preferably with a "neck" or a hoodie or a thick sweater;
  • a down sweater (thin single-layer down jacket) under a jumpsuit or a down jacket on top of a jumpsuit in case of severe cold weather. You can use a ski jacket or a jumpsuit.;
  • sweatpants for staying in guest houses;
  • thick wool socks 2 pairs, one pair of thermal socks, also thick;
  • ski gloves + fleece gloves;
  • ski hat, if available – own balaclava, if not – provided;
  • the scarf is warm, if there is a windproof mask on the face. The balaclavas provided by the organizers cover your face well from the cold, but we recommend that you have additional protection.;
  • down mountaineering slippers (highly recommended), rubber slippers for the bath, a personal bath towel, are provided in almost all guest houses, but it is advisable to have your own;
  • if you know that your lower back is stiffening, then take something warming with you (scarf, shawl);
  • personal hygiene kit (brush, paste, etc.);
  • cold cream for the face;
  • personal first aid kit (if there is a need for special medicines);
  • ski mask – worn on top of a helmet (the combination of helmet and ski mask is most optimal for long-distance snowmobiling);
    sunglasses;
  • A small (up to 30 liters) backpack helps keep your back warm, and you can also put small items you need on the road in it.;
  • You can take your own small thermos flasks for tea.;
  • chocolates, nuts, and sweets are also often not superfluous.

Please note! Glasses are not allowed on the route – they immediately sweat and freeze. Use contact lenses or special ski goggles with diopters. The organizers will not be able to provide such equipment.
