There are quite a lot of mosquitoes and midges on the river - more than in Karelia. It is advisable to have clothes that are not bitten by mosquitoes, and take repellents with you. There are almost none on the rocky, draughty parking lots.

The weather on the Kola is quite severe: the Umba is located beyond the Arctic circle and flows out of a mountain lake, the water does not warm up above 15 degrees in summer, sometimes it drops to 10-12 degrees, although in the shallow lakes through which our route passes, the water is warmer. You need to take a responsible approach to choosing personal equipment in order to feel comfortable. The warmest time is from mid—July to mid-August. During the day, the temperature can be from 10 to 20 degrees, at night from 5 to 12.
