Rafting on the Umba River

We go through the strait to the Lower Cabbage Lake. 

We walk along the Lower Lake to the beginning of the river.

After a small spill, the Robber threshold begins 2-3 k.s.

After the Robber, there are several good parking lots in the pine forest. 

Overnight on the left bank.

Distance traveled: 10 km.

After passing two small spills, called Dedkovy Lambines, we go out into the big Dedkovy Lambine.

After a few kilometers we pass the remains of the old bridge.

After a few more kilometers, the Seven-finger threshold begins (1-2 k.s.).

After Sevenfold, the most beautiful Pearl Ples begins, its length is 3-4 km. 

The place is really beautiful with good parking along the banks.

After the Pearl Reach, we pass two thresholds (1 k.s.) Karezhka-1 and Karezhka-2, after which the long Karelian threshold (2 k.s.) begins about 1 kilometer long. 

After another couple of kilometers, we will pass the beautiful and interesting Kanozersky threshold (3 k.s.).

Then the river flows into Kanozero – a huge beautiful lake. 

Ancient petroglyphs have been discovered along the shores and on the islands of Kanozera.

We walk along the Kanozer under the engine for about 22 km. 

On the way we will visit Rocky Island.

We will stand on one of the sandy beaches near the exit from Kanozera.

A day's rest.

We are making a tourist bath on Kanozera.

The Umba flows out of the Canozera by two channels – the Kitsa and Rodving rivers, we will go along the Rodving.

There are small rifts up to the Ponchozer, but mostly the road is calm. 

After leaving the Ponchozer, the powerful and very long (about 3 kilometers) Bolshoy Krivets threshold begins (2-3 k.s.). 

An endless series of shafts, barrels and clamps. 

After a small stretch, we pass the Maly Krivets, which is a direct fast current.

Distance traveled: 15 km.

Then we pass stationary fishing nets that block the entire river. 

They are installed to control the number of salmon, because the Umba is a spawning river.

After the nets, the Umba is quite narrow and fast all the way to the village of Pogost, from which begins a large Bear patch, which we go under the engine.

The Ples stretches to the concrete bridge of the Umba – Kandalaksha highway. 

After 3-4 km below the bridge, the soldering threshold of 3-4 k.s. begins.

 One of the most powerful and beautiful rapids on the river, the threshold consists of two steps separated by a small spill. 

Literally 200 meters after Soldering, we pass a simple threshold from a huge height with a shaft. 

And 500 meters later, after the automobile bridge in the village. 

Old Umba, we pass the threshold of the Sea.

Transfer 130 km to the city of Kandalaksha, approximately by 19:00, or to Murmansk by 22:00.
