Summer Fantasies of the Arctic

Breakfast. 

At 09.00, a guide comes to collect you for the trip to Teribeka village and the shore of the Barents Sea. 

We will drive on the top of mountain tundra on a road surrounded by the specific landscape of land above the Polar circle. We will do several stops on the way to make photos of the most beautiful places. 

You will see the “Stone Forest”: thousands of handmade pyramids. We will stop at a construction of water locks to see an impressionable view to a lake and a valley. 

The goal of our travel is the village Teriberka (1523) on the Barents Sea shore. Teriberka is a mix of mysticism, wild northern nature, pre-Soviet and Soviet heritage. We will watch the village, meet life of the inhabitants, visit a small local beer factory, watch the famous “ship cemetery”. 

Lunch in a restaurant (set menu). 

Then we go further to the shore. 

You will see fjords, a bay of round stones called “shore of dragon eggs”, hike to a waterfall going down to the see from a top of rock and to a place where old cannons are still standing on a high plateau guarding the shore since the time of the Second World War. 

At 18 you are back to Murmansk. 

Time on your own. 

Breakfast. 

At 09:00, transfer to the south along the Kola Peninsula to Monchegorsk city at the foot of Monchetundra. 

Check-in at Laplandia hotel. At 11:30, a guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to accompany you to the start of the boat tour. 

After briefing and checking the equipment, you get into in two and three-seater kayaks. 

The route passes through the bay along the Kilevay flow to Bolshaya Imandra Lake. Along Bolshaya Imandra, we will start moving towards the Koim Bay. 

The largest lake of the Kola Peninsula, Imandra (812 sq. Km), will reveal its charm to you. Calm clear water in the light of the setting sun, bizarre shores — now low, now high, a magical view of the mountain tundra, dozens of islands and untouched nature of the northern land — you will see all these during your trip. 

Stopping at the Koim Bay. 

Campfire lunch. 

After lunch, we return back to Monchegorsk. 

Dinner in a recommended restaurant. 

Overnight at Laplandia hotel. 

Breakfast. 

At 09:30, the guide will meet you at the hotel lobby. 

Transfer to the start of the walking tour. 

We will walk along a path that will take us above the level of the forest, then over the thickets of juniper and birch crooked forest, then over the woody elfin trees, berries and mosses. There, surrounded by dwarf birches, fragrant junipers and colorful mosses and mountain flowers, the transparent waterfall Maiden Spits flows and rages along the stone steps, dividing into many large and small sleeves. 

We will have a wilderness Lunch near the waterfall. 

Then we return to the place where transport is waiting for us for transfer to the city. 

Overnight at Laplandia hotel. 

Breakfast. 

At 08.30, a guide comes to collect you for the trip to Saami settlement located at a place of traditional reindeer grazing areas. 

There are some traditional dwellings with floor covered by reindeer fur (Kuvaksa) standing at the place. You will see nine wooden idols symbolizing the natural elements and will conduct ritual actions to tell your wishes and appeal to the Sami spirits. 

Then you will take a walk to the mystical lake which appeared in the meteorite bowl. The water of the lake is considered by Saami as healing and magic. Several beautiful reindeers are always in the settlement and they like to be stroked and fed with carrot and bread. Also there are foxes and polar foxes, hares and Husky dogs. 

You can play some Saami traditional games and try your hand at throwing a lasso. 

Traditional Saami Lunch of fish soup, reindeer meat and herbal tea. 

Those, who like, may put on Saami clothes and make photos with reindeers. 

You also will be offered to drive the modern means of transportation of the Saami - ATV. 

It is possible to buy reindeer fur, items made of reindeer horns, stones and wood, special northern souvenirs. 

After the 3 hour program, transfer back to Murmansk. 

Arrival in Murmansk at 15:30. 

3-hour city excursion including a visit to the first nuclear icebreaker Lenin. 

At 18:30, check-in at Azimut Hotel. 

Time on your own. 

Dinner in a recommended restaurant. 

Breakfast. 

Transfer to the airport.
