Teriberka. Whales in the Barents Sea

Air and railway tickets are not included in the price of the tour. You can purchase them yourself or contact us for help.

It is worth considering that we are going North, besides to the sea. The weather is very unpredictable. 

It is better to dress warmly and take off something from yourself than to freeze.

The temperature is +5...+10°C, but the wind, and sometimes rain (in November there may be snow) can lower the temperature "feels like", and you need to be prepared for negative temperatures (-5°C). 

Temperature:

• in May, October, November -5...+10°C;
• in June +5...+20°C;
• in July and August +5...+22°C;
• in September, 0...+15°C.

It is also necessary to take into account the weather conditions at sea, in case it is impossible to go to sea, the boat trip program can be postponed to the next day or canceled (with a refund of the cost of renting a ship).

We recommend that you take it with arrival on the day of the start of the tour or the day before, then you will have the opportunity to see Murmansk (we will tell you what is more interesting to visit) or you can take a return ticket with departure a day later. 

A transfer can pick you up by appointment from the city center (meeting place near the Azimut Hotel, Deli cafe at 10:00) and the airport. 

When buying tickets, keep in mind that the group usually meets at the airport at 10:40-11:00 (the latest suitable flight arriving at 10:20 from St. Petersburg). 

We can bring you back to the city or airport: the time of arrival at the airport for groups at the end of August is 19:00 (we catch flights departing at 20:30 and later), we will be in the city center at 19:40-20:00; the time of arrival at the airport for all groups from September to November is 16:30 (we catch flights departing at 18:05 and later); we will be in the city center at 17:15-17:30. 

Important! Please do not purchase tickets before making an advance payment! 

If your flight is delayed by 1 hour or more, the group may not be able to wait for you — the program will begin to shorten. 

Therefore, in case of a long delay and delay for a group transfer, you may need an additional transfer to Teriberka, which is paid additionally (from 3,000 rubles per person, if you can find a collective transfer, up to 8000 rubles — an individual car). 

Since the beginning of November, due to snowfall, there have been road closures from Murmansk to Teriberka and back.

Important! We recommend taking tickets for the return trip on these dates with the possibility of postponing departure! 

In case the group stays in Teriberka for an additional night due to the blocked road, an additional overnight stay at the hotel and meals are paid for independently.

The trip is suitable for adults and children over 8 years old (accompanied by adult relatives, younger age is discussed individually). 

The upper age limit is discussed individually.

The tour includes accommodation at the 45 Berth hotel. 

There are 3 accommodation options: 

• comfortable cottages with a private bathroom and a balcony (area 28 sq. m., 1 2-double bed or 2 1-bedroom, additional place — sofa (can accommodate 1-2 people up to 170 cm tall), coffee machine with capsules, bathrobes and slippers, shower products, refrigerator, kettle, hair dryer);
• camping houses with their own bathroom (area of 12 sq. m., 2 1-double beds (can be moved, but without a connecting mattress), hair dryer, shower facilities);
• 2-3-4-bed rooms in the main building (bathroom on the floor — for 15 rooms, 9 toilets and 6 showers).

In any of the accommodation options, you can use the kitchen-dining room in the main building.

If you book more than a month before the start of the tour, then you can choose any other hotel in Teriberka for accommodation (in this case you will need to book yourself, and we will recalculate minus accommodation).

Breakfast is included in the price. 

You can have lunch and dinner (usually it turns out 2 lunches and 2 dinners) in one of the restaurants in Teriberka, but due to the busy restaurants on weekends and holidays, you must book in advance (we will provide information about all restaurants). 

You can also order complex meals through us at the Mole gastropub, which is located on the territory of the 45 Berth hotel complex. 

There will be a snack during the trip to the sea.

On tours from the 20th of August and in autumn, there is also a great chance to see not only whales, but also the northern lights — it is at this time that the season of high geomagnetic activity begins, which means there are good chances to see the aurora in clear weather. 

On tours from May to early August, you will not be able to see the aurora, since it is a polar day on the Kola Peninsula at this time (the sun does not set below the horizon, there is no darkness).

This is not often (2-3 times a year), but it happens for two reasons: a storm and military exercises. 

In 7 years of conducting tours, we have only been to military exercises 2 times when civilian vessels are prohibited from going to sea. 

Storms occur in autumn and spring, less often in summer. It is extremely rare that it storms for all 3 days, usually it turns out to shift the exit to a more or less calmed sea.

Insurance is not included in the price of the tour. If desired, you can apply for it on the website of a Large Country without commission directly from insurance companies.

The program is scheduled as standard for the period from the beginning of May to the end of November. Since the daylight is different in different months of the year, and the weather can make its own adjustments, the guide is guided by the actual circumstances and forms the timing of the program after the fact. Usually, all groups have time to see everything that is stated in the program, but at different times and in different sequences.

The surcharge for renting a boat for a boat trip takes place on the spot and only for the time actually spent at sea (calculated by the hour). 

If there is a storm, there may be reductions, in which case only the time used is paid: 4 hours — 6500 rubles/ person, 3 hours — 5000 rubles / person, 2 hours — 4000 rubles / person. 

If there is a complete cancellation due to weather conditions, then the boat trip will not be paid. 

If the boat trip is shortened, if there is a storm, only the time used will be paid.

If the sauna does not work on Yaroslavets (this is rare, but it happens), the cost of a boat trip does not decrease.

Options for boat trips by date.

We have pre-chartered (booked) different boats for different dates, we recommend choosing based on your personal preferences.:

• Yaroslavets project 376 – max speed 19 km/h, length 21 m, width 4 m.
• Yamaha RS-26/RS-27 – max speed 60 km/h, length 7 m, width 3 m.

All boats are licensed to carry passengers! This is important because not all boats in Teriberka issue licenses, meaning they illegally transport people.

"Yaroslavets".

There are 2 tour options: with 1 overnight stay on a boat or with boat trips of 5-6 hours (6 in summer, 5 in May and September-October):

1. A boat trip with an overnight stay on a comfortable boat, that is, stay longer at sea and have a better chance of seeing whales, as well as go to the sauna, swim in the sea and cook caught fish on the grill, on the following dates:

• June 20-22
• June 27-29
• July 25-27
• August 01-3
• 08-10 August
• August 15-17

In case it is stormy and going out to sea at night will be unsafe, the group will spend the night in the same hotel where they stayed for 1 night.

2. Boat trip for 5-6 hours (you can go to the sauna, swim in the sea and go fishing):

• May 08-10, May 09-11, May 16-18, May 17-19, May 23-25, May 24-26, September 5-7, September 12-14, September 19-21, September 26-28, October 03-05, October 10-12, October 17-19, October 24-26, November 01-03, November 02-04, November 08-10, November 14-16 – 5 a.m.;

You can travel a longer distance on a Yamaha speedboat (if the whales are far from the village, then this is a plus), but there is less room to walk, there is nowhere to lie down, and it is cooler, so you will need to dress warmly.

There is a lot of space on the slow boat Yaroslavets, there is a place to lie down, there is a sauna and a fully equipped kitchen, a barbecue for cooking caught fish, and it is warmer, but it can travel a shorter distance in the same time, but at the same time we have dates where overnight on board is available.

It is believed that the smaller the ship, the more seasick it is, but this is not entirely true, since motion sickness is more dependent on pitching, and pitching depends on waves.
