Umba and the White Sea. Alloy

The route option can be changed while maintaining the main elements that make up the program.

The tour participants take an active part in cooking and living in the field under the guidance of instructors, as well as in loading and unloading ships throughout the route.

Rafting equipment: Catamarans are a type of inflatable boats consisting of two cylinders connected by rigid arches. They have a number of advantages over a raft, especially when rafting in rough water. 

Advantages of catamarans: good maneuverability and controllability, which is important when passing difficult sections of the river. 

Camp equipment: tents: triple, 2-3 people each. 

Additionally: individual thermal insulation mats and a sleeping bag. 

Important: Please inform us about the need for a 1-bed tent and a sleeping bag when booking. 

Personal equipment: it is important to inform about the availability of your own equipment and the need for a 1-bed tent, sleeping bag when booking a tour. 

Mobile communication on the route: Megafon and MTS operators can "catch" in places. Recommendation: warn your family about the possibility of a temporary lack of communication. 

Important: study the recommendations for a set of things for a water trip so that your vacation will be perfect. The manager will provide detailed information. 

Meals on the route: type — three meals a day. 

Features: lunch can be replaced with a snack depending on the conditions of the route.

Preparation: the instructor prepares the food, the help of tourists is welcome. 

Safety: the instructor has the right to make safety decisions, including the removal of dangerous areas and the non-admission of unprepared participants. 

Rescue equipment: life jackets on the water, helmets when passing dangerous rapids.

In Karelia, a wetsuit may be required when rafting on rivers, depending on the time of year, water temperature and weather conditions. 

Here are the main situations where its use is recommended: 

• cold water (spring and early summer). In spring and early summer (May-June), the water in the rivers of Karelia is very cold, often close to the temperature of melting snow. A wetsuit will help keep you warm and avoid hypothermia if you fall into the water.;
• In summer, if the weather is rainy or windy, the wetsuit will protect against hypothermia and discomfort. This is especially true for multi-day rafting trips, when it is not possible to dry clothes quickly.;
• difficult routes with a high risk of getting into the water;
• Rivers with rapids, strong currents, or technically difficult areas are more likely to be in the water. A wetsuit will ensure safety and comfort in such conditions.;
• autumn rafting (September-October).

You must provide height and weight data so that suits can be booked and checked for you.

Tribord 100/500 neoprene suits are used for alloys – basic neoprene models (3.5 mm thick). JOSS Active – universal alloy models (3.5 mm).

Neoprene boots, socks, gloves are not provided.

There are a lot of fish in the river, most often pike, perch, trout, grayling. 

Fishing in the Umba River is prohibited.

Air and railway tickets are not included in the price of the tour. You can purchase them yourself or contact us for help.

There are quite a lot of mosquitoes and midges on the route, but their number depends on the weather, the time of year and the parking place.

We recommend taking non-biting clothes and insect sprays.

Insects do not bother on the water.

There are no ticks or venomous snakes on the route.

In July, the first mushrooms appear, and cloudberries, blueberries, blueberries and lingonberries ripen in early August.

The most popular fish of the White Sea is cod, which is often caught in places where the coast abruptly breaks off on the rocks and goes into the depths of the bays.

Also in the White Sea there are catfish, flounder, whitefish, pink salmon, navaga, etc.

Successful fishing can only be done from a catamaran or raft, fishing from the shore is out of the question.

They catch sea fish using bottom gear (on—board spinning rods or donks), the bait is sea worms, which can be dug up on the shore at low tide.

The cod also bites well on various jigs with silicone fish. Using the technique of "shelling" the fishing area with long-range casts, you can achieve very good results.

The Umba is a beautiful northern river that flows from the mountain lake of the same name, the Umbozer, sandwiched between the Khibiny Mountains. Mountain ranges, hills and hills will be visible on the horizon.

On the route we will see the unique nature of the north: rocks, forests, clean water.

The underwater world of the White Sea is rich and peculiar.

The surface of the rocks is covered with soft corals and sea anemones, starfish and ophiura crawl between the stones.

The White Sea is rich in marine life: beluga whales, gray seal, Greenland seal, ringed seal, lakhtak seal (sea hare) - very often they swim close to the shore.

Dwarf birch is found along the shores and in the forests.

It is a polar day in June and July.

It is only by the end of August that the nights turn dark.

The weather on the Kola Peninsula is severe, the water temperature in the river usually does not warm up above +15°C.

The warmest time is from mid—July to mid-August.

During the day, the temperature can be from +10°C to +20°C, at night from +5°C to +12°C.

On rafting on the Umba River, we will go under the motor along the White Sea, so we recommend taking a lot of warm clothes.
