Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Start of the route, Kandalaksha Bay, Babylon stone maze, foot of Malaya Kurtyazhnaya Mountain

    We leave Murmansk at 08:00.

    We travel by car from Murmansk to Kandalaksha.

    Along the way, we get acquainted and admire the northern landscapes of the Monchegorsk tundra and the Khibiny Mountains, Imandra is the largest lake in the Murmansk region, which ranks 14th among the lakes of Russia by area.

    If you start your journey from the Kandalakshi railway station, then we will meet you and together we will reach Nizhny Kandalakshi, a place called "Japan" by locals.

    Here, at the mouth of the Niva River, we collect equipment and conduct safety training when on the water.

    We begin an exciting sea kayaking trip across the Kandalaksha Bay. We admire the rich local flora and fauna from the water.

    We walk 4 km to our first stop.

    We will go ashore at Cape Guba Maly Pitkul. The Babylon stone maze is located here. Its age reaches 4000 years.

    There are two opinions about its purpose. First, primitive man used it as a trap for catching fish at low tide. Secondly, religious ceremonies were held here.

    We, in turn, having performed our rituals, move on.

    Our way lies to the island group of the Kandalaksha Nature Reserve.

    Incredibly beautiful islands of Anisimov, Gorely, Voroniy. Even from the water in these places, centuries-old coniferous trees are clearly visible.

    If we are lucky, we will be able to see moose and bears.

    After lunch, enjoying the pristine silence of nature, we go to the parking lot, to the foot of Malaya Kurtyazhnaya Mountain.

    We'll set up camp, have dinner, share our impressions, and discuss the day ahead.

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour

When traveling by kayak, we pack all our belongings in small air bags (20 liters) and then into the cockpits of the kayaks. Therefore, although things may not be the most ultralight, they should not be bulky.

1. Parking equipment:

  • A backpack (18-20 liters) without a frame (!), which will allow you to go on a one-day radial hike. At the same time, you can come with another bag and put your belongings in hermetic bags.;
    A mat and a sleeping bag (comfort 0 C and below) — if your own. If not, then the equipment is included in the price.
  • tent — with the possibility to lay out separate racks and fabric. If not, then the equipment is included in the price.;
  • the tourist seat;
  • personal tableware (KLMN) is not bulky, ideally it is collapsible.

2. Clothes and shoes:

  • a set of thermal underwear – it's more comfortable to sleep in warm cotton, you may also need a hat, warm comfortable socks (or fleece socks);
  • kayaker jacket or windproof/rainproof, splash-proof jacket. Under the jacket, we wear either a fleece jacket or an insulating layer made of another synthetic material. You can also wear the same waterproof trousers with synthetic thermal underwear underneath. Splash-proof jacket and trousers can be rented from us.;
  • dry (drysuit) or neoprene wetsuit. If it's neoprene, then ideally up to 3 mm. We strongly recommend that you always wear a dry suit when traveling by sea — you can rent from us;
  • neoprene gloves and sneakers. If you don't have them, we'll give them to you.;
  • It is worth taking a synthetic quick-drying cap with you.;
  • headdress (cap, panama hat, beanie);
  • membrane jacket or poncho;
  • membrane trousers, or quick-drying;
  • thermal underwear;
  • T-shirt;
  • "fleece" or jacket;
  • a warm jacket (or a set of second warm thermal underwear for a membrane jacket);
  • trekking socks 1 pair, regular socks 2-3 pairs, 1 pair warm;
  • next door;
  • gloves;
  • short rubber boots;
  • trekking boots (low-rise) or running shoes for radial exits;
  • the hat is warm;
  • lingerie;
  • swimsuit;

3. Other:

  • sunglasses;
  • personal hygiene products;
  • camping towel;
  • sunscreen;
  • hygienic lipstick;
  • mosquito and midge repellents;
  • a bag for your phone;
  • water bottle;

4. Special equipment:

  • head lamp (for August-September);
  • the camera is hermetically packed or with an underwater box (optional);
  • fishing rods;
  • a personal small first–aid kit (personal medicines, antipruritic drugs, Band-Aids, activated charcoal, enzymes - it all depends on the characteristics of your body, which you probably know). In addition to a personal first-aid kit, there will be a group one, but it won't hurt to have your own.
  • hand cream;

5. Documents (in a waterproof box or case!):

  • a copy of your passport and a photo on your phone, or with you in your waterproof packaging;
  • medical insurance policy;
