Shchekinsky Railway Station, located eight kilometers from Yasnaya Polyana, is a living reminder of Leo Tolstoy's connection with this place, since it was from here that the world—famous writer left on his last journey. Today Shchekino railway station is open as a historical and cultural complex.
The attraction of the complex is the stylized stopping point of Yasenki station (the station was named after it until 1903) with a ticket office and a passenger car of the late 19th — early 20th century. In the carriage, you will be able to see the conditions in which passengers of the first, second and third classes traveled, and watch a newsreel about Leo Tolstoy's stay at Shchekino station.
Next, we will have a thematic one–man show "The History of Tolstoy - The History of Russia." You will get acquainted with the little-known pages of the Tolstoy family history.

The village of Sergievskoye (now Plavsk) was founded in 1671 by a large landowner A. S. Khitrovo, whose great-granddaughter, Praskovya Yaguzhinskaya, was the wife of Prince Sergei Vasilyevich Gagarin.

There are two beautiful exhibitions on the ground floor.:
- "The interior of the Gagarin Palace: Prince Gagarin's living room and study", visiting the exhibition, you can get acquainted with the history of the Gagarin family, the contribution of the Gagarin princes to the development of the village of Sergievsky, the life of the princely estate of the nineteenth century;
- "The classroom of the Diocesan College and the dormitory", the exhibition is a recreated classroom of the St. Sergius Women's four-grade diocesan College and the dormitory of the pupils. This institution was opened in 1880. The interiors are recreated from old photographs from the 19th-20th centuries.
The exhibition tells about the training, teachers and living conditions of the school's students.
Master class "Letter from Sergievsky".
You will learn about the history of the first illustrated postcards in Russia and the village of Sergievsky, Tula province, you will be able to independently compose an "open letter" to your loved ones, sign a card with views of the village and architectural buildings of the late XIX-XX centuries with a fountain pen and ink. To put a real sealing wax seal with an impression of the coat of arms of the princes Gagarin, the owners of the village of Sergievsky (the modern city of Plavsk), as a souvenir.
You will take part in a master class, touch on the past and imagine how the correspondence between the sender and the addressee was conducted.
